reusing neoprene collars for cloning

Do you guys ever reuse them? I know my husband tried back when we began and got algae in the ez cloner, but i doubt he cleaned the gear the way that i do (no offense to anyone), and i have carefully picked through them and held them up to the light to make sure they don't have light going through them. also, i think he learned about guardian angel during the cycle where we had algae and then now we have all of those type of things on hand.

should i put hygrozyme and hydrobact in my cloner along with power clone? i just put power clone last time, but i thought if using the hold collars does pose a problem, i'd have preventative measures in place. thoughts?

I am still on my first set and have experienced ZERO problems as a result. Every few runs I soak-wash them in a vinegar solution to remove the calcium-hard water deposits.

i use warm water and bleach... i reuse them.. i dont like the generics the hydro store sells as replacements. they are more pours and get algae quicker then the original ez clone ones... if you get replacements to keep... get the good ones form the manufacturer...

What do you do when a bigger plant has made a hole in one?

and don't worry, i will ONLY get the real collars. they aren't that much, i just don't have the money right this instant and i have to cut clones right this instant. well tomorrow, anyhow.

Anyone every use that foam/rubber pipe insulation? Take the thickest pipe insulation from lowes or HDepo and just cut it into sections, wrap it around the stem and insert? Worked great for my last batch of clones and disposible, I even re-used it once in a pinch after sanitizing, all is well..

Ive of putting them in the dishwasher to get them back to normal shape.

i just dunk my in physan20 and rinse; no probs... just make sure to open each one to get any gunk in the middle out

i actually use the rubber pipe insulation to seal the bottom of doors; if only my dog would stop eating it when i'm not looking

When I'm not being lazy I reuse them, I soak them in a 5 gal bucket with water and maybe a cup of bleach, miix them around in there, and then open each one and run my finger around the crack and then rinse real well under cold water in the sink. Just make sure you rinse them really well. Inside, and out.

For some reason the real replacment inserts, from EzClone, come in packs of 35.... even though the machines only hold 30, or 60, 120.. etc... now THAT is odd!

I think they are .50 cents a piece, and I think it takes about 30 seconds to clean one, for comparison.

i wish i'd known i could resize them in the dishwasher. oh well, live and learn. i got a brand new set, and these i will take care of. i love how everyone here is such a good steward of their resources. it's the right way to live in general . . . .
