What size carbon scrubber?

Was wondering what size filter and fan i would need for 250/400, in 2x3 or a 3x3 space? I have an older filter that is 24" and was thinking it might be overkill for such a small space, also 24" is taking a lot of room up in the cab. I know its about pounds of carbon but i need room for the lights, fan etc.

I'm no carbon scrubber sizing genius, but I might can help.

For that size grow space, I'd say go with a 400 watt and a 6" vortex fan with a speed controller. That is assuming your 24" long carbon filter is for a 6" adapter.

If space is really an issue, you can have the filter outside the cab with the fan blowing through it.

I've never seen a 24" long filter with a 4" opening, so I'm guessing its a 6".

yea i think its 6". I was just wondering if the smaller size filters like a 12" would be adequate enough for the space and light i was planning on using. If i could get a smaller size filter i could have a lot more room and can keep it inside the box. thanks .

It would probably depend on how much airflow your cab would need to keep temps in check.

If the filter is too small and your pulling lots of air through it, you risk smell getting through/lowered effectiveness of the filter.

With a speed controller, you can adjust the airflow to make a given filter more effective, but you risk temps getting too high if the airflow it too low. So I would say the bigger the better for the filter, then you can adjust the fan speed to the appropriate cab temp or noise level and remove the variable of covering the smell.
