First I would like to thank ICMAG and its followers for sharing their knowledge with me. :respect:

I have 5 female Alaskan Ice seeds that i got from GHS in may. So I decided to pop one and check it out.
I am running it in a 5 gallon bucket with a couple airstones and gh nutes. I took a couple clones and decided that I would place the 2 1/2 month old mom in with my bagseed that is in the sixth week of flowering (I think).

That is my alaskan ice female hanging with the bag ladies....lol

I propped her up on another bucket and she is under her first dark cycle since birth......hope she still loves me tommorrow...hehe :kissass:

sorry about the pic, will be better tomorrow, just had the need to share my experience and couldnt wait any longer. :bongsmi:

I welcome all questions and comments, for I am no means a pro!

By the way, I have been growing bagseed for about a year............and finally I have a real strain.....................:headbange

More to come!

thanks for the reply
yeah the alaskan ice doesnt have a good track record at all so far. My plant has a real indica look so hopefully this particular pheno will be more stout.

I hope things go well for the both of us.

Lets straighten this strain out and hopefully one day it yield some great fruits.

I will post some more pics tomorrow of the clones I took as well as the mother plant in flowering.

It seems to me that the AI has several phenotypes and only one of them seems to be "desired". I think its the one thats mostly white widow. I guess when someone wants a haze, which is sativa, but you want it to grow like an Indica, they would try to mix the two. I guess people are probably familiar with the whole pink rabbits thing? cross a white rabbit and a pink rabbit, and you end up with white rabbit 3/4 times and pink 1/4 times if white is the dominant trait. I think thats right, something like that, its been a long time since high school bio. What I'm trying to say, given what traits are dominant in which of the parents, will determine how likely a certain desired trait will show up. If the stretchy trait of the sativa is dominant, and the sativa high is recessive, it will be difficult to get the desired plant, which I think is indica growth with that Haze sativa high. 1/8 i think.

I think its all about selection, you can never force your children to be male or female, or to have your blue eyes instead of your woman's brown ones. What you can do though.. is toss one off a cliff as soon as it doesnt meet your needs... :) I guess in China now, many people give away first born girls because they want a son and they can only have 1 child by law. The nice thing is that once you find the one you want, you can clone it as many times as you want :)

Alaskan Ice vs Nebula

Alaskan Ice vs Nebula

anyone heard of Nebula? its supposed to be the same mix, haze x white widow. I imagine its a different seedbank, different 2 parents altogether, and maybe even reversed with the gender, like the father was haze instead of the mother.

Have people tried to grow this? I have found some great looking pics of nebula in the past, and from the reviews I've read almost all were positive. I definitely don't remember browsing forums and finding a majority of people having issues with stretching, hermies, and this crazed wild type pheno. I remember people saying it was some of the best of the best actually.

Normally I think people will take 2 plants with all around good traits and mix them, so the end result is usually desired no matter how it turns out, even though they can still be picky about it. Sometimes though, the only way to get the best of the best, is by taking your chances. I think many people say Haze is the best as far as a creative sativa high goes, and people have tried crossing it with just about everything. I believe many of those haze crosses had several phenotypes, some of which were undesirable and some that weren't.

From those pics, those leaves look so broad, definitely not like the sativa pheno leaves which look so narrow and sharp. You might have yourself one of those "desired" phenos, I would love to see some more pics later on.

I was actually about one mouse click away from ordering a pack of AI earlier today. Happy I didn't now that I read this. But then I scroll down and see the pick of it and my mind changes. Pic looks great; good luck and keep us posted on your results

I had a total of 5 Fem seeds and they all look very Indica.

I ordered Alaskan Ice because I thought it would be funny how most people would immediately assume it came from Alaska. So if it ever becomes popular or spreads around up here in AK, people would probably be saying its an Alaskan strain instead of a Green House Seeds one, heh. Plus I think the low humidity, cold temps at night help make this look really ICEY. Here is a pic:

day 52 pics, 7 1/2 weeks, still a bit to go.

hey all- i grew AI last year. of the 5- 2 were runts that got pulled, 1 was the short, fatter leaf that was a soso high. of the other two, 1 was similiar to wopuVR and one was the "unstable" wild sativa strain. well let me tell you- that is the haziest, trippiest strain i ever smoked. got 5oz off her. even after 7 mo the smoke is a little harsh because of all the little stems, but they had so many trichs on them i couldn't bear to strip and throw away. franco said that this variety makes the best hash, but unfortunately hash gives me migraines. this is the weed to smoke before seeing Alice

Alaskan Ice 4 Weeks 12/12

Alaskan Ice 4 Weeks 12/12

Hello all, just wondering if anyone had an AI pheno turn out anything like this. I let it veg 6 weeks at which point it was 10 inches tall. These pictures were taken at the end of the fourth week of flowering when it was 3 feet tall. It is now nearly at the fifth week mark and almost 42" tall. Good structure just very tall! Long skinny buds right now that I hope begin to fill out at some point! Curiously, no smell though? If I rub the stalk my fingers get a very strong citrus smell? Any thoughts?
