MO, I live between you and Billings... next to the mountains as well... -4 here right now... I am a registered caregiver for my wife, in the midst of my first grow... about 5 weeks into flower... It sure feels good to have 12 legal plants, and an ounce of meds on hand for her... I gave up smoking many years ago, but enjoy the grow...
I am trying to grow organic, but, didnt do it right... just used straight miracle grow organic with some perlite... not reccomended.. no consistancy it seems

But yes, Montana has come a long way. I am 4th generation here, dating back to the 1880's... I get to Bozeman once in a while, would be nice to sit down and chat, I wouldnt mind learning a bit from you

Yep...

Montana sounds good. I am a USA Army Vet (MMJ from WA) living in Central America and quite frankly getting tired of the local mess...

Wanted to move back to PNW and Montana is just as pretty!

Drove from Ft Sill, OK to Ft Lewis, WA in 98 and got to know the scenery...

Paradise Valley rocks.

Well Fishwater we may be able to work something out in the future. First thing first though I have learned almost all of my knowledge from this site and Overgrow, a past model for this site. So, go hit up the organic's forum and read read read. Lots of guys on there that have equal if not superior organic understandings. Anything else for now, go ahead and PM me or post it up on here.

Oh yeah, actually the Montana constitution guarantees its residents a heightened amount of privacy and security than the Fed does.

And true, most of Montana has not been hit as bad by the recession. Even here home prices are still riduculously high, everybody just refuses to drop them and screw themselves. Although, it is really really hard to find a job in Gallatin Valley right now. Thats why I'm poor hehe, oh no I guess I just got sick of being a workin slob, do it my own way now :).

Hell yeah everybody is welcome, but if you come up here and charge those ridiculous med prices that I see in Cali and Colorado then I'm gonna talk shit about you! Hehe. Sorry but $28 bucks a gram for Super silver haze is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. F#*kin robbery! (oh read that on a dispensary site, didnt hear it(CO))

Anybody need any info, from Montana, or about Montana hit me up. Cant PM till my post count is up but I feel pretty secure in my legality and will chat on the phone, email etc.

or look me up on MCN

hey montanaorganics

Thanks for all this info,.

I'd thought about moving to Montana in the past but quickly dropped the thought due to harsh penalties and high housing prices.

Seems like the only way to do any outdoor gardening would be to grow in a sturdy greenhouse with those freak snow storms. Is it possible to pull off short season outdoor up there at all?

I'm gonna go do some Montana research again!

I really believe so. I think it will definitely require diggin a big ass hole to ammend and add better soil. With healthy started plants you pretty much have from may through september. I got a real small harvest outside a couple years ago.Put out a handful of plants straight into soil. Went in mid june and had lucky weather till october. I really have not had my outside tries up to par. A good outdoor grower could do it for sure. After all we have 3 months of intense light and thats all thats really needed eh.

-bump- Question for montanaorganics...
How do you keep everything warm and happy up there? With the outside temps in the single digits inside heating has to be a full time job. When my girls get under 65 everything seems to stagnate until I can warm up a little.

I'm picturing $400 heating bills to and a bunch of humidifiers running. Here in FL it's $250 cooling bills year round, even now in january.

Thanks for entertaining my curiosity, MT is completely different world for us in the sub-tropics.

is that the stuff in the orange/yellow bag, with the chicken guano in there? Nothing wrong with it, I've used it for non-MJ plants a few times & it's done real well. With some extra perlite as you say.

Yeah I have a buddy used mg organic no problems also. In my opinion it is lacking EWC & lime, but otherwise not so bad, lotsa twigs etc.

As far as keeping it warm here, well this will seem a little redundant but my bud room is insulated. I run 2 1000 watters in it, and cool it to the rest of my warehouse with air conditioners. Temps in the bud room are no prob. Now in the rest of the warehouse its freezing sometimes, my veg room runs a 1500 watt heater to keep it between 55 and 75, things definitely slow down when it drops below 65 but such is life for now. I`m more concerned about the heat, honestly, its gonna take massive ventilation changes.

Heat is just as much of a problem in an indoor grow here as anywhere. I am running 5k of air cooled lights in a 100 square foot room and cold intake air/AC is a necessity. However, the air is very dry and requires humidifiers to maintain a healthy humidity level. Lights off in the winter necessitates the use of a small oscillating heater to keep temps above 65f.

Yeah I`m not looking forward to the heat, cold is a little easier to deal with when your equipment puts off so much heat. And actually humidity is near max now as its too cold to draw any off...grrr...

Hehe, Draco I am pretty sure that MT recognizes all medical cards, but I`m not sure about CO.

Wow, I would have never guessed. A/C in Montana's winter! I would imagine the flowering room would seem down-right tropical after coming in out of the snow.

We've had quite a cold snap here in Sunny Florida. All the way down to 28 once, and around 35 most nights this week. You should see the people scrambling to home depot for space heaters. Shelves are empty and the news nerds are scaring people into stupidity.

Kinda funny to watch people in the south shiver when its under 50, myself included lol.

Thanks for the replies.

Hehe seasonal opposites, you cant find fans, air conditioners or dehumidifiers here during winter, kinda annoying for our profession.

I use the a/c for an easy fix in my sealed room. Two of them for redundancy. Surprisingly they dont freeze as long as they aren`t in energy saver mode.

montanaorganics, I live in Zoo-town and am seeking employ within the Montana mmj community. Any idea or leads where I should start my search?

WoodsyOwl-
First you can check out montanacaregivers.net
They have a recently started job board, not much on it but a start. You could ask in forum there too. Alternatively you could post on craigslist, always get a surprising amount of attention there.
Other than that you may just talk to the bigger caregivers around... Montana Cannabis, a Kinder Caregiver etc etc.
Oh, maybe attend a MCN clinic and talk to caregivers directly also.
Or maybe get ahold of or visit a Montana Medical Growers Association meeting.

Nice Thread, honestly I didn't even realize Montana had medical cannabis. :dunno:

Sounds like there medical setup is almost better then California's. Sounds pretty damn cold too though, not sure If I could handle it.

Mitsubishi makes the MrSlim mini-split AC's with built in heaters. They are a bit pricey and need some installation, although they can control both heating and cooling problems, especially in a sealed room with a big enough unit. You can just set the auto temp to 75, and when it gets to cold the heater kicks on or to hot and the AC will kick on.

I know you mentioned you aren't to concerned with specific genetics, but I was wondering if you guys in Montana have the same popular strains as us in California. Per se, Grand Daddy Purple, Blue Dream, Green Crack, Bubba Kush, OG kush, etc....

Thanks for the info,
Mr^^
