How necessary is it to use a prepaid cell phone? its nice to have that extra security but it sucks running out of mins all the time... especially when i already have a cell phone

what do you guys think?

I use one and think it's a worthy business expense. If the people you are dealing with already know your full name and or where you live, it's obviously a waste of money. But alas if you've done a good job of distancing your identity from your evening occupation, it's certainly a worthy(although admittedly not cheap)expense. I have a friend who works at Verizon. if you have a Verizon phone number, I have everything. This is not uncommon.

I agree with you about running out of minutes. Just leave any unnecessary b.s ing to the regular phone or text w/code when you can..

It is 100% necessary. Doing your thing on a contract phone is just a very bad idea. If you found yourself sitting in a jail cell you'd be wishing you had paid for the second phone. I feel like if you're gonna do it, do it right, otherwise it's not worth it.

running out of minutes.. ?

what you do is... when you run out of minutes. .you get a whole new phone

$20 every 3 months with virgin mobile. should be plenty minutes to do business only. (can always add more minutes, but still wise to get new phone and # regularly)

You're in control.. you contact your people if they need you so bad. You call them to let them know your new #

if anything goes down dispose of phone and cool down a while to see who it could have been snitchin.. then get new phone..

use different phones for dif tiers ... i.e. general, lieutenants, block burnas, patients, etc..

Instruct them to call you twice without blocking their #, hanging up after each time, then you return their call. Can even return their call from another prepaid blocking your # as they will be expecting you to return their call from unknown #.

Your people should know all your rules beforehand. If you're the source, you're in command. If they don't follow you do not mess with them. It's wise to advise them to also use prepaid.

If you're the one that's in need you should still be using a prepaid.

I would always use a throwaway for doing business, never a phone linked to me. For the minimal investment the extra layer of security is worth it. Be smart in how you use the throwaway and change it regularly.

PrePaid phones?

PrePaid phones?

I am just curious, but when using a prepaid phone should you still be trying to cover what you say, or can you just do the damn thing, so long as you replace often.

Yes, this is a serious question, as dumb as it may seem. Common sense tells me to be as safe as possible, but somtimes it is hard to code things, and I don't know enough about the pre paids to make that call.

Some people say always code over the phone, just in case the other end is dirty.

I don't bother. Nobody I deal with knows my relevant info, so if they wanted to snitch they couldn't be much help, anyway.

You do know that cell phones can be monitored and tracked right? If you tell on yourself nobody has to know your relevant Info ... You become your snitch.

There might be someone who knows Less about phones than you Dank.

I should have stated this, but i am talking about pre paid cell, to pre paid cell. Just to talk to one person(only person i trust). I don't know if this would change anyones opinon or not.

I use throw-aways. I had assumed that was self-evident.

IMO i dont think small time bull shit really make a difference whether contract or prepaid phone just dont be stupid and talk like you face to face or something

like someone else said use code any time you can might as well cover your ass, this is definitely not something you should get lazy about

youngin - Why do you think that matters? If "They" are monitoring your cell phone "they" know approximately (within a few feet of) where you are when you use it. Be it a Contracted In Your Name or a Throw Away. Now "they" have your approximate location And you talking like a wannabe Big Shot Dope Dealer. Do you think "they" need to know who you are or where you live to arrest you doing something illegal that you discussed (probably in great Detail) on a cell phone?

every time you get a new phone/number, you can give your new # to only the people you like to do business with and continue on with the people who are real and loyal. Don't be handing your # out to everyone and telling them to pass it on; unless maybe you're in a med-state and thats what people do out there. Still would be wise to change the phone out regularly, allowing only the people you want to continue working with access to your #

don't be a bitch for no one.. you don't have to carry the phone around with you all the time everywhere you go. Check on it when you feel you need to and reply when you feel you need/want to. You're not an errand boy. Talk minimally.

If "they" are listening to your phone conversations they already know what you're doing, where you're doing it, and they're just compiling evidence. Using pre-paid just makes it harder for them to figure out your number since they can't just search your name with each cell provider.
