When was your last REAL sativa buzz?

I think we all are shaun. I'd like to get a sativa in my garden that was easy to grow and just makes you laugh until your sides split. There's something extremely therapeutic about laughing for the human body and this old body needs all the good therapy it can get. You wait, once the kids get a bit bigger and you and mellomel start slowing down a little the joy of pure laughter will be an in-demand quantity as important as pain relief. Oh God, I'm sounding old and bitter.

"I will not be a bitter old hippy stoner. I will not be a bitter old hippy stoner." LOL...

You find that gear you be sure to let me know, compadre...

I got to smoke Thai stick, in Thailand, for two years in the 60s; and Kona Gold Maui Wowee etc. in Hawaii for five years right after that.

For decades after that I was stuck in 2 am parking lot deals doing Mexibrick. Then the skies opened up, Colorado legalized medical marijuana and I qualified. Man, I waslooking forward to joining a giggly society of stoners. Dumb me.

I smiled a lot, laughed a bunch, from some of the first strains sold to me as sativa, and I know everything is better in memories than real life, but come on man. That's pale stinkless shit.

Maybe some landrace strains, and some really smart breeder will introduce it back in to the mainstream? I see a lot of stuff now with "Thai" in the name, but haven't found anything that measures up.

Ya think it's just all set and setting, as we used to say back then? So if we got a bunch of us old farts together, slipped us some Buddah's Sister or similar, told us it was Thai stick and seeded the group with a laughing shill, we'd laugh as hard, remember it as fondly?:dunno:

Don't think so.

Well, when was it? When was the last time you had an honest to goodness pure sativa to smoke? One that had the soaring high that lasted for hours, didn't lock you to the couch, zip your mouth shut or make you retarded? When was the last time you had pot that made the social occasion/engagement a real thing to remember instead of an evening ender?

Like me, I'm sure a lot of your old stoners remember the soaring sativas from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Thai stick, real Panama Red, Columbian Gold and whatnot. Pot that made the evening hysterical fun and the company all that much better. Today, I smoke to fight pain and the hitting power of the Indica is one of the chief concerns. That leaves all the fun sativas off the table for the most part.

Right now I have an Indica/Sativa cross I am using that works fairly well for pain, but once you smoke it your ability to communicate it seriously impeded as everything goes into over-processing mode that is so typical of the "bite of the indica witch".

It's been a while for this kid, how about you? Are you even considering putting a real-deal, 10-14 week sativa in your garden just to have something that makes you giggle?

The answer lies in your last paragraph, which pretty much sums it up Mpd.
Years ago it became abundantly apparent to me that the only way I could ensure a regular supply of good quality Sativa smoke was to grow it myself.
For the most part, commercially grown weed in this part of the world means 8 week Indica dominant varieties, very few of which have the type of high that I was looking for. I certainly dont blame the growers, the market is what it is, and if I were growing for profit I would almost surely follow their suit and grow faster finishing plants also.
Most consumers in these parts would likely have little appreciation of the extra efforts needed to grow indoor Sativas, and almost certainly wouldnt be willing to compensate the growers by paying the extra amount necessary to justify the extra time/effort for the grower. Its merely economics, and around here at least, its unlikely the market will be changing anytime soon.

If Sativa is what you seek, then I recommend you do what Ive done. Find some good seeds, grow your own and take control of your situation! :D

ive had the pleasure of smoking since the late 70's

I have had hawain, thai, a few of the epic south american pot. among many other imported sativas

ive also had the pleasure of smoking many modern elite sativa hybrids and pure sativas

i hate to be a debbie downer

BUT

many modern pharamcutials really mute sativa highs

many psych meds and other meds like opiates and benzos really inhibit all but body effects of smoking pot

one of the reasons i live pretty holistic life is i get alot higher when i do

there are some good sats on the market IMO but if you really want to enjoy them you have to take into consideration the pharmalogical aspects of getting high

as we get older we are all given a spectrum of drugs to help relieve side effects from ailments

smoke cigarettes - take advair

over eat - take senecal (p*_

anxiety from speed abuse - take a benzo

the drug solutions do not heal the body they simple relieve the side effect while adding new ones

i found with less meds and rehabilitate therapies even an old body can heal

adn still get high

hope this helps

You old farts of the opinion that most of the REAL sativa genetics got lost in the 70's? An old timer from back home and I had a great relationship-he'd drop his wisdom, I'd smoke him out till his heart was content. He waxed religiously about the lost sativa genetics that produce a high nothing like the sativa's of today.

The last real sativa I smoked was Kali Mist - I had setup a buddy w/ beans, etc.

I never got the part of harvest promised, but I did get to smoke some before he moved and screwed me over.

It was freakin' awesome...

I had some diesel mix breed this year that was very up. I didn't taste like a old school sativa but the high was super happy.

Kali Mist 5-6 years ago. Camping at the beach, watching whales migrate south for the year, great time.

The pure sativa is the da' bomb! You know it when you have it because everything just got a wee bit easier and whole lot more fun.

There's not many things you can say that about any more. Think about it.

Had some Nevilles Haze about two years ago.... Love Sativa's - unfortunately moved from the south to the north. It's a bitch to grow indoors and we just don't have the length of summer to do it around here... I've had to be content with the mixes..

P.S. Howzit MPD? Aint seen you in a coon's age...

My last real sativa buzz was well over 3 years ago!
Typical looking roughly handled shwag-or so i thought
After sharing a blunt with 2 others, I started to experience the LSD rush that is so comforting to me :)
Vivid colors, eyes losing focus, tearing up, perma grin, great energy, the whole 9 yards-felt like being a child again
She is currently about 4 weeks in and looks just like a typical haze-another 8-10 to go but boy, let me tell you, out of all the great genetics under the HPS, this one is the one i'm looking forward to reliving the most and that says a lot since I've also got Appalchia in there-(Green crack X chem 4), Dreamgoddess, Kali most, Sour Kush, atomic NL, and a c99 hybrid

Kali Mist in A'dam 2001. Cambodian in Ho Chi Minh City winter of 1999-2000....small rust colored buds with a thai type taste. Had a steady supply the 2 monthes I was there. It seriously smoked everything I had in Viet Nam during the 1990's.
