uk falling temps

Uk hello we are all in a cold spell at the mo me room with the lights on is at a nice 26c night falling to 14c this temp range is a little high. do you all think this is ok??

I think it may be ok but worried the roots may feel the pain im thinking of turning the pump on a couple of times through the night to keep them warm my res temp is 27c.

any input would be great??

Your reservoir is too warm. You would rather the reservoir was a constant 16-18c. Colder water holds more oxygen, inhibits anaerobic bacteria growth and is best for your plants' roots.

A temp swing of 21 (lights off) to 26/27c lights on at canopy level is fine. A drop to 14? Not so fine - you can shock the plant more than you would prefer to do that way.

Chill the rez and warm the air :)

keeping the water temprature at 16c wouldnt be recommended tho, not by me anyway, 18-20c would be better. But i agree 27c is madness and a pythium/root rot/stem rot/algae infestation waiting to happen, believe me i have experienced this.

14c is a little low but wouldnt result in much other effects than more stretching. Buy a safe heater for the night and turn up the fans during the day.

soz i work in degrees F lol ... more precise

im pritty south , but with a 150watt tank heater in a 90 LTR tank i can happily run a perfect 68 degrees wot ever the weather . i run the pump for 15 minutes every 3 hours, the roots wont have time to get cold lol its 70 degrees in the chamber with the lights , about 65 at night plus a heater ... there fine

yer i dam cold out there, just run your lights at night and a heater plus thermostat in the day time

Hay all many thanks for you your help!!
well I have changed my res temp and maintaing a steady 21c. I purchased a 3 setting 1000w thermostat controlled oil heater from BQ for 25 quid and this is keeping my night temp at 20c and a day temp at 28c this is the best I can do and it has made a big difference i have noticed a leaves greening up and looking healthier im on week 5 looking ok sww what you think...

I had this same problem and tried everything: frozen ice bottles, taping up the rez, raising the rez off the floor yadda yadda, but in the end i just ended up spending 100 bucks on an aquarium chiller. Defo worth the money, my rez now stays at a constant 68F + an added bonus is the pipe carrying water back from the chiller acts as a waterfall in the rez = even more oxygen!
