Has anyone ever used these Ballast

I couldn't help but email Sonny personally and ask him about this.

Here is his response.

Thank you for your kind reminder. Here is the fact:

There was a distributor who purchased Welthink ballasts and they modified power output although Welthink told them not to do that. If they do, Welthink won't honor warranty. Now these modified ballasts died and they asked the factory to warrant these ballasts. The factory refused. So they threatened to destroy Welthink reputation.

Welthink honors 3 years warranty. But it has a premise, that is, without manufacturer's permission, no modification was made.

You needn't worry about this. If your ballast was not modified by the distributor, Welthink will honor 3 years warranty.

Thanks,
Sonny

So obviously this guy is pissed, because he modified the units and they failed, then he wants then to replace them.

Just wanted to let everyone know.

There is always two sides to the story

You're right, there are always 2 sides to the story. Which one is true??? How do you know this "Sonny" person isn't a liar? I went with a cheap ballast a few years back when I first started growing (purchased from eBay). Damn thing worked for 6 weeks before it melted and I'm very blessed it didn't burn my house down. FUCK CHEAP BALLASTS!!! Don't risk your life to save a few bucks...

Anyone and everyone can attest to buying something that went bad whether it was from a cheap manufactures or a good reputable one.

Personally I think whoever bought all these units is taking it personally and trying to bad mouth Welthink. The originally poster had already posted on many different forums regarding these units.

Buying from a well known manufacturer does not guarantee problem free use. It all a gamble no matter what.

Anyway just figured I would post what Sonny had to say about this.

As far as Sonny being a liar, how do you know that the original poster didn't do exactly what sony said and modify these units

One can never know

I would buy a fire extinguisher if I bought a ballast like that. just my 2c. Saving a few bucks is not worth my safety or security.

Complete BULLS**T!!! Sonny is a Liar. Keep checking out the website www.welthink.info and you will see 100% conclusive evidence that Welthink ballasts are pure GARBAGE!!!

Sonny even shipped us out 48 Welthink brand (Not OEM) 1000W warranty replacement units that ALL FAILED within a few months.

NO MODIFICATIONS WERE MADE to these units. This is a cover up by Welthink and Sonny. We will be publishing emails, skype conversations, etc. with the jokers as proof.

And as for Sonny claiming we are threatening to ruin his reputation.... COMPLETELY FALSE. In fact here is an exceprt from a chat we had in Alibaba just yesterday..

BLAH... BLAH... BLAH....

As you can clearly see, Welthink is trying to sidestep their responsibility associated with their 3 year warranty. You can also clearly see that we have been trying to handle the issue in a reasonable manner up until now.

Sometimes the only way to deal with a scamming company like Welthink is to hang their dirty laundry out where everyone can see it.

Also, by no means is the above conversation even the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the months of proof we have compiled.

If Sonny is a straight up guy then why doesn't he send one of his so called "unmodified" units to a legit independent unbiased 3rd party for inspection and we will do the same thing with one of these bunk units that Welthink sold us and we can all see who is trying to F**K who here????

The longer you try to avoid your legal responsibilities the worse it's going to get Welthink. Everything we post is 100% truthful and will be submitted as evidence in the law suit that will be following shortly.

BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

Hey Pat Fenis

I fail to see why you show that thread, to answer a question about why I defend a potential crap product.

To Answer the question "why are you so quick to defend a potentially crap product?"

Just because someone has a bad experience with a product and then starts posting negative remarks, is not enough for me to stop buying from them.

I guess if someone went to burger king and got some bad fries, then started posting about it, I guess I should stop eating at burger king.

Or maybe someone bought a laptop from HP and it turned out to be lemon, maybe now I should stop buying from them to.

Thing is I don't believe everything someone says.

Whatever is going on between you and Welthink, I hope you get it resolved. I am sorry for your loss, but telling everyone to never buy a Welthink product is not gonna replace those bad units.

Your experience with welthink is duly noted. Buyer beware.

Maybe you have done some research before running out and buying 500 units

Well I thought I had enough of this thread cause the comments going back and forth is like kicking a dead horse.

But as for burger kings fries they do suck. worst fries out there.

I didnt buy a laptop from HP but I did get a printer from them in fact in a 3 month period went thru abou 4 or 5 printers from them. Till I got tired of replacing them and i went with an epson printer. I havent gotten a hp printer from them since. and as far as I'm concerned never will again. Epson printers have performed so much better in my opinion why would I want to go back.

I gather since I see you started this thread back in 06/09 asking of the welthink, you purchased the ballast in question. Well i hope it works well for you, but if it should go poof i do hope you dont get another and get somehing that has a better rep than no rep or in this case now with welthink negative rep

True I started this thread back in 06/09, and was done with it. At the time I was looking for anyone else who had bought one.

This thread popped back up when Pat Fenis decided to revive this thread from the dead. I was surprised when i saw a comment on this thread, but when I read it I saw he had something to say personally about his experience with welthink.

Yes I did by one. 400 watt HPS/MH ballast.

I only use magnetic ballast. I bought the welthink as a backup. At the time I could not justify spending 200-300 dollars for something I would only use for backup if my magnetic failed.

Believe it or not I still have not used it. Only to plug it in for testing, and everything went fine.

Seems like with all the negative rep on welthink, maybe I need to buy a backup for the backup.

I don't think these ballasts are junk. If you are going to make such claims then please try to provide objective/empirical evidence. The web page posted by someone in this thread provides no such evidence. I know for a fact there were a series of 1000W ballasts that were bad. That being said, we had zero and I mean zero difficulties getting them replaced. Keep in mind that when any product is produced on a massive scale there is a very real possibility that by chance alone some will be bad...from cars to tooth brushes. If it weren't for the Chinese we wouldn't be able to supply our insatiable appetite for electronic goods and we would be paying a heck of a lot more than we are currently. Consumer error, in my opinion, tends to be the culprit for most situations. I have used welthink, quantum, nextgen, and others side by side with no appreciable difference in the end result.

I bought a welthink 400 watt HPS/MH and it's working fine. The ballast is enclosed in a metal box (you know what I mean) which makes it seem pretty safe and it doesn't get as hot as my previous non-electronic ballast. I like the welthink and has worked flawlessly so far.

Fat penis is clearly defaming a company and there are legal repercussions for that. It might be smart for Welthink to brush up on American law if this jerk is hurting their reputation.

I got mine in February of 2010 so it's possible something could have changed. I have no idea. All I know is it's working 100% well but I'm still going to put it in some kind of fire proof box just in case. It would be smart to do that with any ballast I think.
