DWC Cloner, how long until roots appear?

Nortin

I made a home made DWC cloner tub put my clones in, I used clonex gel. They have been in 6 days and no serious roots that I can see yet. How long till I should see some results? The tub is kept between 75-80 deg. Thanks for any help!!

Roots can appear as quick as 72 hours or take as long as a week...it sounds like temp and solution is right assuming clones stock was healthy and you made clean 45degree cuts you should have roots in no time...i find the most common reason to not having roots is temperature either to high or to low......good luck

moses is right about temps, that is a key factor, but Roots can take longer than a week, even 2. Lots of factors besides temps. How much light are they under? Light schedule? How long are the stems? Are they in the water or out? Did you scar the stems? What stage and shape was the doner plant in? Is the container light proof?

You dont have to use the cloxex in a bubbler either. Do not need it, and adding stuff to the bubbler has caused some people problems...slime. Not saying it will happen to you, but you can clone just as fast with just water, no gel. Personally I would dump your rez, fill with new RO water. Some strains just take longer, and some like different water levels. I like the water just below the cuts, so it is mostly just bubbles splashing and the upper part gets more oxygen, with smaller mist like bubbles. Have had success with stems in the water, and just above, but too high and they will wilt. The roots grow much different tho. If you get the right levels, the roots grow much better and faster. Depends on your set up honestly. Bucket size, water height, and pump strength.

Hope this helps a little, answer some of the questions...it will tell everyone a little more about your set up. Cloning is easy, if done right. Problem is, what is right for me....may not be right for everybody and vice versa. Find what works for you, but my advice is to atleast dump your water and fill with some new RO water. It has only been 6 days, it could 2 days or 10 more. Just be patient, and make sure you dont get any rot or slime. If the evironment is good, some should show bumps soon and then once it starts rooting they will take off. Good luck.

i have always used clonex...but shit if you can get away w.o it go for it..he does have a good point about strains, light etc....i just figured you had cloned this plant before and where having problems this round....that sdaid patience is a virtue...I believe you have taken the precautions necessary for the plants to clone ..now its just the waiting game

With no cloning gel, temps around 85F, and using a seedling heating mat I usually see roots in 3-5 days.... Good luck

I had a batch that took 3 weeks to root, I almost gave up. I used olivea's cloning solution as a folar feed which seemed help quite a bit. It could also be the strain is tough to clone. if its a keeper strain dont give up!!

I'm using a homemade aerocloner for the first time and first roots appeared at 9 days ;but that was after f#$% up and shutting off the pump on day 2 for 12hrs and wilting the hell out of them. I have good roots on 8 cuts at day 12 temps average 75. Good Luck

Great points wow! I am doin a purple wreck my resevoir was previously 78 but i put a heat mat on it to warm it up. The cuttings were about 4-5 or so inches long and I did cut them at a angle and gave a light scraping to expose more cam. The stems are just barely dipped into the water and I have a big air pump with 2 stones in a little 8x12 inch tupperware container. I also made the container lightproof. I didnt know that I dont need gel in the dwc though that was really helpful. Thanks so much for all the input so far this really helps! Peace

for whatever reason, I suck at cloning in bubble cloners. I usually get roots and have them come back to life just before they die, like at 2+ weeks. wtf. don't give up yet.

roots can appear as late as 14 days or more tho, i have various results on various strains. If no roots has appeared within 3 weeks i would toss the batch and try again.

Hey Nortin,

Be careful with the heating mat, 78 is plenty warm enough. Would not go past 85 for sure, that can lead to trouble. cyberwax made a good point, if they do not root after 3 weeks they may never and can get mushy or stem rot. What kind of lighting are you using? You do not need much to clone, so keep the lights far away and not intense. Less is more in cloning. Give it another week, you should see bumps soon. Good luck.

Temp is key, I just took some clones, and some of them are already rooting after 8 days... Last time i cloned they took damn near 3 weeks lol. I did change to a "raft" (strofoam with holes, sitting on top of water) cloning techique, but im sure temps are the main reason why they took so long before.
