Hi, I am currently snowed in and cant make it to town to buy some 'PH UP'.
Is there a substitute I can use until I can get some ?
I am growing in hydro (wilma/dripper system) and my ph is 4.8.

I have never used ph up. IMO (for what thats worth!), tap water works just fine. My tap water is 7.0-7.1 @ 330. Add my nutes to 1100 my ph is 6.6 .. 1 tablesppon of ph down and i am set for 7 days!

My question to you ... have you added back more than 50% to your rez? if so, it might be time flush it out.

As for substitues .. man .. dont cause yourself more problems going that route ... I'd just wait for a snow plow and then make my way.

I hope this helps

I'd use tap water also. The effectiveness of kitchen solutions such as vinegar and baking soda is measured in hours.

exactly what i was thinking. also way easier on the mind if you just refill with tap water. most things ive heard about ph up is you shouldnt ever need it for this application. maybe your ph stick isnt calibrated?

Recently i've learned if you cannot fix your ph issues with tap water/nutes your rez is too small.

I found that out the hard way as well. I first ran a 3 gal rez that would have stable numbers for all of 1 hour. Somedays my babies would drink half of my 3 gal, and not let the pump work. Bigger rez(30 gal), regular flushes, stable numbers; these things have made me happier.

If you can get your hands on some SM-90, that makes a great natural pH up. Seems like I was just talking about sm-90 . . .

good deal, thought something was fishy about using ph up...there is a drip cleaner/ salt build up remover that you can add to your res. to avoid having the same problems in the future. im pretty sure house and garden just came out with it..
