Fla. Man Calls Police After Pot Plants Stolen

MARATHON, Fla. —
Investigators in the Florida Keys say they lured a suspected marijuana grower into turning himself in by leaving a ransom note in place of six seized pot plants.

The sheriff's office in Monroe County says detectives discovered the plants in a wooded lot and confiscated them.

They left a phone number on a note that read: "Thanks for the grow! You want them back? Call for the price."

Steven Alan Locasio called the number about 10 minutes later. Locasio offered $200 for the plants, and detectives agreed to meet him for an exchange.

Locasio was arrested and booked into jail on drug charges. He was expected to appear in court Tuesday. It's unclear if he already has an attorney.

A telephone message left for Locasio was not immediately returned.

I just spent 10 min looking for that thread and can not find it in the security forum and did a serach on "rippers" and "ripped" on all forums and came up with nothing. Does anyone remember what forum it was posted in?

Its so weird I remember it like it was yesterday but cant find it and I dont think he was actualy thinking he would get his plants back he wanted to see who ripped him. I think he let his anger get the best of him. Bad move either way.

I could have swore it was in this forum and most of the people were actually suggesting exacting revenge...Which in my opinion would've been even dumber than what he did lol.

I just don't understand how someone could possibly think that the person that did something like this to them, a person that was willing to steal and risk getting in trouble etc...wouldn't have an outlet to sell this shit themselves. Much less think that they would leave their phone number at a pot grow site...

Since the question was actually asked that means there are a few million more out there that would actually do this in the name of revenge or getting their weed back. So, I hope this helps some people out

I can't believe he called.
I would take that as the biggest break ever and walk away.
If someone steals from you i would consider then dangerous why even communicate even if cops are the furthest thing from your mind.

I think this guy might have been encouraged to call the number on the note by some peps here but I'm not sure.
