H2O2 is both expensive and gets you on a watch list these days.

You mean the cops are watching women who dye their hair?? When did this happen?

40% H2O2 is around $7 a quart from your local beauty supply, in the states. Just ask for 40% developer and specify 'CLEAR'. It's Water, H2O2 and Phosphoric acid (stabilizer). I believe it's even food safe, though I could be wrong.
Edit: Wow... didn't see that watchlist coming. Should have read the whole thread, eh? LOL Thanks for the heads up CactusJack. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, what with that (Congresswoman) Maxine Waters' crack about socializing everything. This country has some serious wounds to attend to.

Go to a Beauty Supply and buy 40% H2O2 (or 20%). Very cheap. Dilute the 40% 12:1, the 20 6:1. Soak your hydroton, clean your tubs, everything. I actually keep a spray bottle handy to disinfect ANYTHING.

Be very careful about running it in your soup, you can kill your beneficials

so just chop off your old plants and put in the new clones?

you need to wash the roots out dude.

I mean to say, get the majority of the root material out but sterlization by boiling or bleaching isn't necessary as if there's a pile of destructive bacteria awaiting to wipe out your next crop.
