Rough guidlines for pulling 8-16 oz per plant OD?

Hey BB

Just a suggestion, but you could use femmed autoflowers such as bluestreak and accomplish all of your goals without much effort. 10 weeks and the plant is ready to harvest at 2' tall with a couple oz.s on it. You can grow at least 2 crops per season. Get the seeds, pick a good female and male and make a bunch so you can plant at will. You can hide 30" plants anywhere.

This year, im growing them in between rows of soybeans, which are knee high and the auto's fit perfect between the rows.

you need to start bending, shaping, tieing plants fairly early on. Once branches and nodes become woody they can easily snap and die. Unless you can just let your plants wave in the wind, keeping them at or slightly under the canopy of whats around them is the key.

that sounds like a reasonable reason to top man, sorry i didnt even considder mold. i have cows and they will chew it when its vegging or just trample it when you first dig up fresh soil and transplant, but they dont seem to go near the plants from preflower onwards because the plants smell changes and and also it turns bitter so they dont bother. but if you have these animals around its always better to put a few runs of wire around to stop em gettin in or reaching over to have a taste, how many plants you doin how many pounds you tryin to grow

1 gal = 1 zip is feasible with chemical fertilizer and average soil. The only training done is tying them down and strengthening the stems early on.

id go mid to late june mate
ih had stw3 outdoors a few times and my cut at least goes the 2lb mark at around 3-4 months and on average 9-10ft
im in the sub tropics which could account for the growth
but if you are trying to avoid monsters it might be relevant

and just a question as mold isnt a problem around here
topping verus super-cropping wouldnt it achieve the same end without losing any growth tips ?

imo depends on the amount of sun you have... full sun at 10+hrs a day will grow em big quick and if i were only aiming for a plant that size i would plant in 30 gal after the 4th of july if the plants have been vegged to atleast 15in prior. if you have some shady areas or getting some sun blockage from trees etc i would plant a couple weeks earlier in a 45-65. this past year for me, i got 1/2lbers in 5 hrs direct light in 45 gal smartpots planted second wk of july with chem ferts and some guanos. plants were 12-18 in tall in 1 gal pots before tplant. similar latitude to yours and came in first wk of oct.

Thanks a ton for everyone's input. So I got with man with the land to lay out his options and see what he wanted to do.. To my pleasure he actually wants to go for 10-20 girls pulling 1-2 lbs each instead of more smaller ones. So based on what I've read here from everyone, and basing my numbers off what was orginally the 8 oz. goal, to get minimum of 1 lb I'm now thinking of throwing out 18-24" girls June 1st, possibly the last week in May if the forecast looks promising.
That gives me roughly 2 foot plants to start with and a full 2 months of outdoor vegetation in prime spots before flowering triggers. I'd imagine that's enough to pull at least 1. If anyone can comment on if that sounds feasible (or definately not) please chime in.

After talking to him, cattle won't be a problem at all. He can keep them in plenty of other areas. I believe we may also do some 8 oz. ones in various other areas of the land, and possibly adjacent land to just get a feel for what grows well where as it's never been done on this property before. He'll pre-dig the holes and water for me. I'll just come out every few weeks and check on them.

I told him I'd like 30 gallon or so holes, and I'll make up the soil at my spot and bring it out there one weeked, fill up the spots, then drop the girls in the following weekend..

I'm going to go with SWT #3 mainly since I know the flowering time and yield potential of the cut(s) I have access to, and maybe some C99, Alpha diesel, F13, and Donk scattered around just to see how different strains react/finish up on the land..

I'd love to hear any comments/suggestions/complaints about this plan so far. I'll try and update this thread as time goes on..

Thanks again everyone, I'm stoked to finally be able to do this after dreaming about it for many many years

One other thing he brought up that I wasn't quite expecting but he seemed to like the idea is to plant these in containers.. I was showing him some pictures of one of those 'One plant, one lb' threads and he noticed the containers.. This land is so private that if there was a major advantage(s) to doing them in big containers it could certainly be considered.. The first few I came up with were if for whatever reason we fucked up and planted somewhere that there wasn't as much light as we expected we could easily move them to another location. The second was we could also grow in locations that may not be suitable to plant in (such as rocky soiled areas)... Size of container he said wouldnt be an issue because he has the machinery available to move them if we had 30-50 gallon containers that needed to be relocated..

The potential downside I was thinking was even in say a 50 galllon container I was wondering if these things can get rootbound.. I have no experience growing plants anywhere near this size.. I'm more of a 2-3 oz indoor kinda guy.

Any suggestions/comments here would be appreciate as well.

Thanks

mate sounds like you have it sussed
id throw a couple of test plants in pots to see how they go
a bit of experimentation couldnt hurt

hope it all works out for you mate

go with that plan buddy you wont regret...65 gal smart pots in good sun with plenty of water and food will do those yields no problem... depending on location i might stick with 24-36 bigger ones@ 2-3 lbs
