some general ground rules first

this forum is for outdoor activity's and is wide ranging but please keep it in context
if we are discussing hunting talk of guns is Ok, normally we don't like gun threads
but as tis is an outdoor activity a lot of members enjoy we will allow guns
but "In Context"
you don't hunt with an AK47 or a colt desert eagle, you get the Idea

personally I love Fishing (wild trout & salmon back home in scotland) I also do shooting (mostly Clay, Target and paintball)
camping esp if I can combine both of the above, Paragliding, no better rush than running off
a mountain and hpoing your canopy inflates, and just generally walking around in the wilderness

so feel free to post your story's of your great Outdoor adventures

Well if you hunt bore, you have a nice pistol or two. :D

Some people actually hunt wild game with assault rifles... *shrug*

This is a Fantastic idea for a sub-forum. Thanks Pink!
As far as guns go, i hunt with old military rifles, sometimes. weather during hunting season in my parts can be just about anything from rain to blizzard and warm to sub zero.
given crappy rainy weather, an M-1 is hard to beat for function and reliability.

Honestly, I dont get peoples gun fear, its just another toll. what you need to fear is the people, behind it, or behind the wheel, or behind the badge, or... well you get it.

great idea op ...
most aussies are outdoor folks , well those not bound up in the cities ..
as most folks seem to be hearing ,, we are a little less armed with guns as we once were ... its fine theres other way s to get the job done ..
just contemplating purchasing a compound bow , they are a very efficient weapon , nice and silent also ... a few large pesky monitor lizards that eat chicken eggs might be a nice start for it .. hehe ..
i dont mind not having a gun , but as other outdoor folks that live in the "wood/jungle/bush" what ever u want to call it , u need some sort of weapon from time to time ...

Great idea. This forum should prove very popular, as I believe a good percentage of us are great fans of the outdoors.

Being a gun aficionado/collector I take any chance I can to show off my guns. I would however caution anyone posting pics of guns to make sure the serial number is not visible in your pics. I'm sure that's something your friendly neighborhood LEO would be interested in; serial numbers can be checked against federally mandated invoice logbooks (in the U.S.).

Once again, great idea on the forum.

I was an avid outdoors man. Thanks OP for the forum. A couple of my guns are now assult, funny thing is, when I purchased and used them that name hadn't been created yet. They were just hunting rifles. My late father and I had a pro guide service for waterfowl in the very Northern Ca. area for 10 years when I was attending high school. At that time I started a game bird taxidermy service that continued for 20 some years. I evolved into a bow hunter in the early 80s and really enjoyed the challenge of getting close enough to game to take with a bow. I have the Silver Broadhead award for the largest Pronghorn Antelope taken with a bow in the US for one year. I guide antelope rifle and bow hunters as well as mule deer in CA and Nevada still when my disabilities allow...not often though..more like just pointing to a map and saying "Go Here"...LOL..! I do not hunt with firearms or a bow anymore but miss it. Just my camera friends. My fishing adventures are to numorous and would take up another whole page so I think you've heard enough about me for now..love the outdoors....let's hear more from our ICers who have these common interests..DD

good to see some of the outdorrs men, and hopefully more too. apart from growing outdoors, im also an avid fisherman. i fish muskelluge and bass mainly up here in ontario canada, but love the walley and other species as well. not a huge hunter, but have fired a gun or too in my time. I also love camping and just being outside.

Nothing like going out in the woods camping around a fire, and getting high and drunk. Makes me feel good, even though im not a drinker, but on certain occasions it is a must.

Have some ladies isnt bad as long as they arent they real girly ones, but most of the time it is better to kick it w/ the boys.

Having some shrooms would be awesome too, as i have never got to trip while camping.

I agree with ya 100% on that buddy, nothing like a good ol bon fire, a cooler full of brew and a pocket full of dank n surrounded by mates all having a damn good time :joint:

I am a huge river rat.

during the summer, after work I'll just grab a bag and my bong and just float in the canoe, counting birds, paddle along looking at passing boats, sometimes I actually catch something on my line but it's always catch and release.. I could spend all day on the water, if you go the right way and you don't mind portaging (sp) uphill you can get to some pretty spectacular areas around here,

great idea for a thread, ever since i was young i have had alot of outdoor exposure, grew up in Oregon, lots of camping with dad and the sisters, then started backpacking with friends when out of highschool, and it was a place to get/be high, we hiked all over. even li
ved in the woods east of Eugene for 2 months without coming out, i was 18 then, ahhh...
alot of hunting/fishing in the eighties, once i got into elk bugling i was hooked on archery...iv'e downed 7 elk with a bow over the years, not a trophy hunter though, only one of those was a branch antlered bull, i did bugle him in for the shot, always hunt solo, but might just start up again with a partner....my son just turned 12, all ths typing makes me long for some forest exploring..anybody ever think of organizing a giant outdoor campout? like a cross between an eirthfirst RRR and a rainbow gathering, only more smoke. would you come? jc

Got to love the outdoors nothing like it. I am a big time camper and big time hiker. Let me just say nothing like a nice toke next to the fire.

Great to be living in an area where we are blessed with an abundance of wilderness areas. Just yesterday, a friend were the first to canoe a nearby stream that was still above flood stage. Only two drag overs of downed trees, nothing but lifting the canoe over a log in only 2 ft of water, so no problems at all. Two and one half hours of slow drifting with just enough faster water to make you think of what you were doing.. Two cormorants, several large soft shell turtles, and an abundance of spring flowers. The last half mile was through completly still back water large cypress and tupelo gum trees where your prowness at guaging if the canow would fit between two trees, and a good eye for submerged cypress knees, and more and different varities of birds than you can count...then at the end laying back with a bowl full of home grown that was produced not 100 yards from all of of the above... Therapy, you bet!!!

I enjoy outdoor activities of most kinds. I like fishing, camping, hiking, and have recently taken up target/clay shooting. There is nothing like relaxing by a fire, frying fresh caught fish, and smokin' on a nice joint of homegrown dank bud ! I look forward to reading more of the threads in this forum.
