ANYONES WHO HAS HAD LIGHT LEEKS

I have a good question here?:witch:
I have not done this yet but would like to know if I have female clones that i like and would like seeds for it but don't know where to get them from if i take one cone and put it into 12/12 lighting to flower and keep making it have light leeks. Can i turn a female clone from a mother plant into a male so i could make seeds? :tumbleweed:

your female with the light leaks would turn hermaphrodite.

I think if you can get pollen from it and brush it on a plant that has experienced no light leaks, the seeds will be ok. I have not tried this so this is just what i think i remember seeing on the forums a long time ago. Someone else will have confirm this for you.

the hermis pop up where the light leak hits the plant, it does not change the whole plant, only the parts exposed to the light

I dont actually believe that light leaks have much impact on plants....

I think if folks saw how careless I was they for the most part would be appalled.....

Here was a challenge I had on OG.....

I would be interested in seeing any clone from a mother who had been carefully inspected for male flowers...and none were found....

a clone of hers could then be turned into a hermie thru any simple change...like some light leaks....

IMO the reason for hermaphroditism is genetics...not light leaks...

Well thanks I have a 2nd gen clone came from a mother this last season i flowered 2 clones i took about 5 weeks into flowering i loved how they was turning out so i cloned 1 to keep as a mother i know your not suppose to take from flowering plants but it worked and worked well. now i have taken 2 gens myself from this mother and never have had one hermi yet but i want to keep this strain i like it alot for high smoke and yield i dont know any company's selling this strain and don't know anyone else that has it so i would like to get some seeds from these plants to keep her going for along time to come.

Exactly.

This is one of those times that the "natural" way of doing it is the worst way -- and the "unnatural" way of doing something is the best way. When it comes to stimulating hermaphrodites, external chemical events are best. You want the process to be used on plants that won't normally herm; not manipulate natural genetic factors that depend upon pre-existing herm tendencies in order to be expressed. The unnatural method does not increase herm tendencies in the genetics; whereas the "natural" methods do increase those chances.

The unnnatural use of colloidal silver as an ethylene inhibitor allows the grower to "self-pollenate" the plant and create feminized seed which does not have increased hermaphroditic tendencies.

Info is here.

I recently finished a 150watt grow. It was my first solo grow.

I vegged and then flowered in a bedroom closet, completely the opposite of light tight. My grow was PLAGUED by constant light leaks.

I started with 9 clones, of those 4 and a runt went to flower. All suffered tremendous light leakage. Not a single one hermied.

Take that as you will.

Seeds from hermies will pass that trait down through the seeds. You do not want to use these. Get a male and pollinate properly if you want seeds. The hermie trait will ruin any chance of having trouble-free grows. Your plants will hermie at the first chance they have from any stress, even something as little as letting them go an extra day without watering.

I thank dog that the clones I was gifted do not have the hermie trait.

Using silver to affect the sex of the plant from the seed is a different story completely.

Long-short: do not force hermie to try and get seeds, you will be sorry and waste a lot of time and always only get crappy seeded bud from those seeds.

2nd SlowCalaToker on that...
get a healthy male (from seed) or some pollen from a friend and then you can make your own strains and dont end up with hermie- genetics comin up later in your own breeds, its a waste of time and money....

yea man, who ever is saying the light leaks cause herms is incorrect. it is purely genetics that dictate hermaphroditic features. many folks have grown in less than light proofed conditions never having a hermy. you will have great difficulty procuring seeds this way. try colloidal silver or butyllic acid i believe.....don't quote me on the acid, it is Bu*** acid.
