Is all trim useful?

Hey guys...

I was just wonering if when making hash or BHO if all the trim is worth using.

I have jack herer f2 (pretty rough genetics, although there is a couple of plants that look like they're going to be okay) and Belladonna which looks like gods gift to weed at this stage. So nice. Two distinct phenotypes Both grow similarily to indicas, one had almost 0 stretch and every part of the plant is covered with resin glands... it sparkles like diamonds... the other stretched to twice it's height in flower and has weighty buds that also catch the light like disco balls. I just hope it smokes as good as it smells and looks.

anyway.... back to the question... can i make BHO out of my super leafy jack herer plants even if there's not too many glands visible to the naked eye?

well if you cant seen any glands i think it would make great compost or do what i do i give it to few close friends who are do dam lazy to grow and are all ways out of weed. i tried making hash and iso hash but not worth the time or effort unless you can see a lot of glands on them

You can make hash out of ANY part of the plant...but it will be low grade. Meaning mostly plant matter rather then trichs..

I only use quality trim and not the fan leaves.

that's one thing i always found funny about any of the ice hash bags available is they seem to advertise turning ALL the scrap into hash when really only the crystally trim from the buds or any leaf with visible trichomes is really worth using oh yeah buds work good too nuggler

Yeah, if you've got bubblebags you'll get at least some good-grade hash from it.
How much have you got, if less than say, 5 ounces, you might wanna just dry seive it and see what comes up

I don't want to cause any conflict but this is just straight up wrong. I saved the fan leaves from my male plants and made Butane hash oil that was very powerful. I do the same thing with all of my fan leaves, regardless if they are male or female. No trichs on the leaves at all yet the oil that is produced from the fan leaves is awesome. Maybe I just got a hold of a really good strain but I bet un-triched fan leaves from most varieties will produce a good quality oil.

i ve made some good hash outta fans and a lil sugar trim...but it was mainly fans, smoked really nice. i save all trim myself, i just let stick it in da freeza until i have enough to make a batch, then its on. i would admit though the betta hash is made from visible trichs tho but it was still very good tho. some might dissagree buts thats life.

You're probably right Supercon, I just didn't want anyone to assume that fan leaves were worthless. You can create some very fine smoke (meaning oil) out of fan leaves. I'd never throw away my fan leaves, they're too valuable in my opinion. I've made honey oil that is easily just as good as dank nuggets. Why throw out something when you can turn it into smokable gold?

I'd agree also, better hash can be made from better starting material, or more hash at least.

Yep, further along those lines I recently ran material that had been used for bubble hash throught the bho tube and got some nice honey oil, returns weren't great but the cookies I made with it were. I've kept all my fans and will try them out soon just never get round to it and the bag's getting bigger lol

Hmmm...

How did you incorporate the oil into the cookie mixture? Sounds like a good way to use some Butane oil instead of just smoking it all of the time. How much oil would you add to a batch of cookies?

As long as its green, it goes in my bubble machine. Except large stems. I keep the brown leaf out for better taste.

I just melt it straight into butter and use it that way. I just do it by eye and test strength afterwards, sorry can't be more specific but a little goes a log way

Thinking about it this is probably why the last week or three has been a bit of a blur lol

I'll chime in here, I don't throw away anything but large stems.

small stems make GREAT BHO, QWISO, and butters/oils for edibles
large fan leaves even though they show NO glands, are surprisingly strong and I include them in making QWISO/keif jelly hash. (I run mostly indica strains maybe that's why)

ALL above ground plant parts produce cannabinoids, except the actual seeds, so I use all the plant will give me, why not?

they way I look at it, tossing part of the plant out is just like throwing your loose change in the garbage instead of a change jar and saving it for later.

when freezing the leaves and trim do you let them dry out first or toss them straight into the freezer after clipped?

Personally I dry it first, pretty sure you get a higher yield if everything's dry. Not necessary but...

I'm never making bubble hash again, I get 6X the yield of better-quality hash with quick iso. I guess if you don't have a lot of trim than you can use fans and stems, but I toss em as they aren't worth the space to me. I do pounds of trim at a time though.
