Hello all from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Just moved here a couple weeks ago from Northern Cali and trying to get my medical license set up.

Just tried to contact NORML here in Vegas but it seems they've been shut down or something.......

It's almost impossible to find a doctor in town and the weed I've been running into out here is SHIT!!!!. I met one grower out here and he swore he had some AK-47, I'd rather smoke some rolled up wood. I figured it would be a cake walk to get this medical license here in Las Vegas......I thought wrong!!!! I guess marijuana isn't sinful enough for this town. Hopefully things will change soon or I'm headed back to anywhere in Cali

Found a small hand full of hydro shops. Only saw one that was somewhat adequately stocked, not sure what kind of discounts they give though. Good thing I still got some of my old equipment.

Well, if you can find some locals they will set you straight on the scene in Vegas...I left that place over a decade ago for greener pastures, and haven't looked back at Sin City since...what a horrible place. We used to get the WORST weed in the world there, stuff smelling like gasoline and made into bricks, seeds, stems and all. Sometimes a little bit of string also...yuck.

I was able to get a lot of good info about the Nevada / Las Vegas cannabis scene here, and they also directed me to a list of doctors that make recommendations.......at least I'm sort of headed in the right direction.........

Something weird about this place and the people here.........they're probabaly all coked out in this town. Seems like a of of Meth heads out here as well.....

Cannabis just isn't sinful enough for this town.........It's time to legalize

Took all of what, 15 seconds on google to find this list.
Been here 10 years. There are some good people here-at lest the ones of us that aren't " all coked out" but there are also A LOT of scammers here. The town has a high transient population that thrives on befriending you and figuring out how to take what you have. And, people are usually very wary of newcomers for this very reason.
Lots of meth too.
Think there are 5 hydro stores in town, but don't look for big discounts. You may get lucky every once in a while and save a few bucks but don't count on it. Usually a percentage off for cash.

just to note: Nevada is much stricter on there mmj than cali. Your only allowed to have 7 plants. 3 mature and 4 immature and 1 oz. of cured mj. you can get the doctor to rt u a script for more. the law states that if a doctor says u need say 56 oz. u can claim "affirmed defense". http://leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-453A.html. http://leg.state.nv.us/NAC/NAC-453A.html

I heard of some of those referrals, but I really don't like the $150+ they charge for something I could do and have done myself. I was really looking for a marijuana doctor to save on the referral fee, but doctors don't seem to advertise their services here.

I scored a fat 8th of some purple from a local out here for only $50.......I guess I just was talking to all the wrong people.

I was informed that Nevada NORML was now defunct and is now operating as Las Vegas Cannabis Club, but there seems to be some kind of membership fee ($$$) to join etc........I'm always a bit weary of organizations charging membership fees and at the same time trying to sell meds to its patients........I've never been charged a membership fee for buying from a collective?!?!? But I guess this is Vegas, what more could I expect.

One of the locals I met directed me to a website that he and some friends had taken some grow classes from, which had a direct download for the list of doctors here in Las Vegas....there were a only a couple doctors on the list but I'd rather spend $25 for an instant download than $150++ just for a referral. Perhaps if I was paralyzed and couldn't do it myself, the $150++ would be easily justified. The company I got the download from (medicalcannabisinstitute.com) seems to teach closed door grow classes in Vegas, SF & Hawaii. The guy who took the classes in SF highly recommended them so I'm pretty stoked to take some classes and hone my growing skills once they get their next Vegas class scheduled.

I'm gonna have to check out that Happiness Consultant Dispensary here........sounds too good to be true. I hope the herb is good. Would you happen to know if they got clones, seeds etc???

Yea he has clones sometimes. His herb is hit or miss. sometimes its good, sometimes its just ok. he's also expensive $50 to $70 for 1/8th. but he's the only man in town. Your going to have to send $50 to the department of health for paperwork. there's a paper there that needs to be signed by a doctor.

Here's the deal. All the dispensaries in Nevada are operating illegally. THERE IS NO LAW ALLOWING FOR THEM TO OPERATE according to the Dept of Health who oversees the program. Nevada's MMJ law does not allow them to exist. Damn if I know how they are keeping from getting busted. Patients are allowed to obtain their meds anywhere they can whether grown themselves or on the black market. So, according to the law, patients have nothing to fear by walking into a dispensary to obtain. The way it is set up the patients aren't even allowed to share their meds or grow for another patient.
The way I understand it is they have opened with the expectations of being raided/arrested so as to push the issue in open court.
Referral services are allowed to operate because they don't supply meds or aren't supposed to or provide grow classes.
State legislature refuses to change the laws to provide safe access to patients.

LVCC fee is 25.00 if I remember correctly.

LID-he's not the only one in town. Apparently there are 5 to 7 operating total.

Program cost-
50.00 for the packet from the state-1st time fee for new patients
20 to 25.00 for fingerprints-1st time only(don't remember the exact cost for the prints)
$$$ for the doctor + extra $$$ if you have reason to extent plant numbers dependent on doctor-yearly
$ for notary to sign 2 papers in the pack-yearly
150.00 to the Dept Health and Human Services to process approve/deny application-yearly
12.00 to the DMV when you go to have your card made-yearly

I can't even believe Nevada & Cali don't even have reciprocity when the 2 states are so dependent on each other.....Damn politians!!!!

The instant download I purchased from the medicalcannabisinstitute.com website was pretty complete and even had all the fingerprinting spots with prices here in Vegas, so I should be all good to go. I called their office and left a message to see what classes they have scheduled for the future here in Vegas.

They guy I scored this purple from even had $40/8ths of purple popcorn that looked and smelled pretty good. I always like having several strains just to change things up a bit

I heard the cops here are total dicks, corrupted and have been getting away with murder. So how do they treat medical patients here in Nevada? Hopefully it's not like San Diego.

Also heard MPP is trying to put out a Tax & Regulate initiative similar to the one in Cali. Very interesting........

State legislature meets every 2 years. They refuse to change mmj laws but did refuse to increase penalties. But only because it was not released out of the committee that was to release it for a final vote. Would have put us on the same level as the cartels for ANY overage of state laws.

Cops don't mess with mmj patients unless you've called attention to yourself for doing something wrong. They've been pretty cool and understanding in the dealings I've had with them.

MMP-2012 for legalization I'll be totally surprised to see any legalization passed. If passed in 2012 it will have to be voted on and passed again in 2014 to become law. That's the way voter initiatives work here in Nevada. Must pass in 2 consecutive elections cycles to become law.

Sounds like this state has a lot of catching up to do with it's neighbors over in California. I figured being this close to Cali, this place would be flooded with herb. I'm sure that will all change once they allow dispensaries to operate legally within the state.

Some of my friends are coming down next week to visit and is bringing in a mother for me to get started since I didn't know where to get reliable clones or seeds from around here.

Also got a return call from the medical cannabis institute. Seems they have a class tentatively scheduled for February in Vegas for only $100, but it's a only basic class. The guy I scored the purple from took the advanced class from them and highly recommended them. With the quality of bud this guy was growing, I was stoked to take this class. Hopefully they won't make me go thru their basic class in order to attend their advanced classes, much like what Oaksterdam and CCI does.

We just came back from a vegas trip, but we had to bring our own stash since we know how hard it is to score out there. Been doin it for years, in Tahoe as well.

They don't seem to mind us hot boxin the rooms though?? And we partied the whole weekend? So I guess my medical card is not valid in Nevada......so what would happen if I got caught smokin' a joint and I had a Cali medical card? The cops don't even bother us here up north anymore, they probably got medical recs as well... LOL

I took a class out here in the Bay Area from MCI (medicalcannabisinstitute.com) last year. It was a 2 day class in an upscale part of town. Never realized they are out of Vegas since they have a spot here in SF. Very experienced and knowledgeable instructor. I probably could have gone without the basic class, but the advanced class gave me a lot of good pointers, so it was all good. My other friends were pretty new at this so they really got more out of it than I did. It's a bit of a hands on class, which is the way I like to learn. It's more of a workshop than a class room setup though.

To look at things a bit on the positive side in Las Vegas, Nevada - I'm certain once Taxation and Regulation happens in Cali, which it will, it will be impossible to stop the spillover into Nevada.

I think Nevada is just waiting to see what will happen to California before they step up to the plate.

If all else fails.........you can always gamble and drink alcohol... :-( or move back to Cali

Norcal - I'm thinkin' this whole tax & regulate thing will hit Nevada in the face whether they like it or not. Hopefully sooner than later. Thanks for the info as well on those classes conducted by MCI. They returned my call yesterday, and the guy sounded pretty knowledgeable. They currently don't have a class scheduled for Jan. but they are planning another in Feb.

Resinryder - You're right. I've seen some crazy things going on in those hotel rooms during bachelor parties, as long and you don't damage or steal anything, pretty much anything goes...... :-o

With all the coke and meth flowing thru this town, I'm surprised you never hear of any drug busts.

One of the locals told me there was a grow op busted not too long ago on the west side, but the homeowners got caught because they had shot someone trying to pull off a house invasion............I probably would have shot those fuckers as well..........hope they don't go too hard on the grower.(which I doubt) Hopefully he's not snitching out other growers as well trying to work a deal with the DA........
