cave, rootbinding is just a fact of life. It's a problem all over the map with house plants, organic or otherwise, not just MJ.

If you start your garden crops inside, rootbinding is enemy #1. It happens when the weather does not cooperate (as in 2009 in the US north east)

Rootbound is a great condition when the plant is flowering. It allows you to get precise control over both water and nutrients and makes the top buds much bigger than if the roots were unrestricted. But, to get new, green top growth, you need to start with root growth. Roots grow first, then green tops follow. It's possible to avoid repotting a rootbound 'mother' plant that is in veg for some time by heavy feeding, but it soon becomes a battle to keep her healthy. I think the best thing is just to take a clone and flower the 'old' mom.

No worries, the mutant leaves are to be expected. She will be back to her old self in no time.
I sure hope so, I'm really liking the way this crop is looking, and it's so tasty to boot. Imma try to get some pollen from the mom to pollinate one of the clones with. I wanna see what the Grape Ape looks like from seed. Thank you for your input, much appreciated.

Cave Dweller i'm not saying the hermis are guaranteed to form, but it's something to keep in mind. reveging is a valuable tool, which i used till i got my veg cab up and started working with clones. in my case the uniformity helps.

I have never had a problem with hermi's whilst revegn.

Well it will be several months b4 any results. I've dedided to reveg with tea's the first go around some root pruned and some not.

Thanks everybody.

I should mention that he revegs in the same soil and runs them through 3 times after the initial harvest. He states:

Well you flower them at a very short height 1-2".....to me "Rootbound" is a state of mind and always has been...my clones run 3 cycles in the SAME 14-15ozs of soil(Vol.not Weight)...thats 60+ grams of bud for a "Rootbound" plant.....lol

Trimming the root ball back about 50% will ensure a good success rate, and it still means that you're only using half the amount of soil as you would if growing out clones, that seems pretty economical to me.

Usually I don't even consider keeping a phenotype from any strain in my mother chamber unless it revegges readily and fairly quickly. It has saved some of my strains before, and probably will again.
