CUrrently im running some plants that were potted in coco but replanted in fox farms ocean forest soil. so imagine plants with a coco cube root base that is planted into soil, so its kind of a hybrid mix.the roots extend out of the coco into the soil/perlite.

Anyways, im watering everyday and i usually notice my soil is soggy, cold, and wet still.

I was thinking about skipping watering. I just put them into 12/12 flower yesterday.

When i water i only do 10% runoff with TigerBloom and calmag, 1/2 strenggth, PH 6.0.

What do yall think? I know for soil its okay to skip a couple days, but what about for COCO??

Hmmm.. Thats an interesting one. Infact, I like the idea I think, may try some variations of that out. Anyways, I would say to skip watering because the coco will water itself or "wick" the water from the soil.

Soil needs more time to dry out. How big is the coco root ball and how big is the new pot of soil?

Depending on pot size you still should be able to go 2-4 days between waterings. Ive had coco root balls in FFOF my last grow and I was able to go 3 days with 2.5 gllon pots.

Good Luck

you want the soil to dry out between waterings - dont stick to a daily schedule just water when they get dry - mine get watered every 2-3 days

using two different mediums in the same pot isnt such a good idea though, as they will have different absorbtion qualities and you will find them hard to keep evenly moist.

I would definitely let it dry out a bit between watering .
soil can co longer without water , rockwool/hydroton needs water more .plants drink water at different rates ,so you need to figure out how often .With soil let the top couple inches dry out before watering again. .

yeah that!
Soil NEED to dry or roots will haven't enough oxigen! Also, don't let it dry will cause an acidification of the soil.
If you really need to give some water you can foliar spray them many times a day while soil drying.
Good luck man.:wave::wave::wave:

good drown

yup, yup, and yup.
i grow my big flowering plants in 2 containers, in soil. the first is the old 2 gal, i cut out the bottom, then i stack ontop of a 5gallon, giving me maybe 6.5 total. with this much soil. every single plant i have had only needs water every other day. i use 1/2 a gallon on each plant to feed them. i use the 1 gallon water-piss jugs, so its easy to tell what 1/2 a gallon is. if i up the water to 3/4-1 gallon. i can go 3-4 days without a water. i try and do that once a month, as it may help. i also let them get underwatered a few times as well.
If your soil is always wet, the roots wont get any oxygen and mold can also form.
i seem to have more of a problem keeping up with my little 1' veggeres. they were in 20oz dixie cups, and bewteen that and the close 400 mh, i would HAVE to water everyother day or it was borderline killing them due to lack of water. i just re-potted into 2 gallons so off they grow!

Yeah you're now growing in compost not coco. Sounds like you're overwatering, leave them to dry out til the pots are light. How long have you been watering the compost every day? Can you take a plant out the pot and give the roots a sniff? If they smell like fresh potatoes then all is well but if they smell of sulphur/bad eggs or sour in any way then you have root rot or at least anearobic bacteria present.

:yeahthats

Learn to do the "lift" method. Lift the container off the ground just after watering and lift a container that is ready for watering. Notice the difference between the two. It becomes really easy to know when your ladies need water using this method.

Run-off ,,in soil substrates,, unless extremely free-draining,, usually indicates OVER-watering!

Watering from the base of the pots allows the soil / plant roots to take up just as much water as is needed no more no less.

The amount of water and when to water can depend on many things including the temps, wind factor, and humidity... During the final weeks of flowering watering can be reduced to just a small cup of cold water each day (this works especially well with indica strains in a free-draining substrate).. :bandit:

Hope this helps... :D
