i'm about to link some containers and hook up an auto topper type control bucket. i need a really good, fail safe float valve. any recommendations? thanks d9
If you're control bucket has to be topped off via another water holding container, you might consider these. You will also need some sort of pump. http://www.autotopoff.com/products/DS1/
I've had four of them in more or less constant use for over 5 years feeding my moms with no problems or failures. I also still use them in the res when running DWC (can't quite kick the habit!). I use the adjustable arm version to allow fine tweaking of level after mounting. I'm using one to feed my version of your ppk. Will post pictures on the ppk thread in the next day or two. Every 2 months when I clean my mom containers I give them a light scrub with a tooth brush. Otherwise, no maintenance.
i've built all of my containers now (16) and gotten the last none ppk out of the room so i can link them all to a level control bucket. this will be gravity fed from a 100 gal mixing container. it should get me about a week between having to mix nutes.
so the valve needs to be one that doesn't need much pressure to operate safely. later, d9
Gravity fed will use the first float valve I linked. You can probably find one cheaper on Ebay then from any hydro store. You may also check any of the R/O manufacturers. Two most common sizes are 1/4" line & 3/8" line. 1/4" should do you fine.
it's been so long since i've bought one the last was in my bio-bucket days and it was one of those float on a brass rod things that i had to bend around to adjust level.
i like the looks of the little wing nut on the small plastic one. looks like easy adjustment.
