WTF Hydro shops???

I went to 5 different hydro shops to purchase a carbon filter.... and none of them carry them anymore! Why you ask? i guess because they're advertising them in High Times? at least that is what i was told.... and if that is the case... if they don't want to sell their products because they have such a MORAL obligation not to supply medical marijuana growers... i would love to see a hydro shop owner turn down the person that wants to buy 10, 1000w lights..because if you think the person is growing tomatoes think again!

does your local hydro shop not sell carbon filters?

i know this isn't every shop... but every shop in my area.. i don't think its so far fetched they try and get our (growers) back after REPEATEDLY ripping us off

sorry to vent folks but it hurts knowing you have been supporting your local hydro shops and they turn their back on you..

Ya this happened at my hydro shop, one day they had 1000 of them, the next day none, and no explanation of why< i stopped going there after that

i was told by a friend that you should be able to find them in paintstores because they use them for indoor painting apprently

I know what you mean.. same thing happen at my local hydro shop
The funny part, they went out of business about 2 months after they stopped selling carbon filters. I'm sure they learned who their customers were after that one.

Let me guess WA state?
Yeppers. A few months ago, within days, all filters and ozone were removed from the physical stores and from the websites (ecogrow, indoorgarden).
I was wondering why I hadn't seen any mention of it on the forums. My guess--the state Attorney General sent out "cease and desist" letters (maybe unofficially, there was no mention in the news).
I'd suspect the DEA was behind this but haven't heard of this occuring in any other state.
I can't blame the stores--the filters presuppose (federal) criminal activity.
I'm sure their legal counsel said to dump the filters. (Yeah, pisses me off too!)

(I bet this is part or total BS). But I was told it stems from Hempfest and and advert done by I assume Can-Fan. They had a massive advert being pulled through the sky by a helicopter that said something like Want Buds or showed cannabis. It was a direct link to cannabis though. I heard local DEA were less than pleased and made it their mission to go after the local shops carrying there products. However all can filters are gone so I am not sure I buy into this story. They did disappear right after Hempfest though.

I was able to find a brand new one on Craigslist for a better price than new so it all worked out for me. Guess I'm driving out of state next round though.

Cheers

yup

well damn i shouldve grabbed some before it got gone. Im sure some will pop up soon.

edit: i wonder if that has anything to do with the hydro shops takeing the can filters off the shelf?

I saw a big bud banner flying from a little single engine plane in sfv, i thought I was hallucinating.
But to the point, i guess this carbon filter drought hasnt caught on yet in sin city...

yeah the chick at ecogrow was the first shop i stopped at.... she said the owner for their store stopped carring it because she caught wind that carbon filters where being advertised on high times.... and she said after that a lot of other shops did it too because their shop leads the way... not sure how much i buy into it.

with all this being said... does anyone have any experience with o zone gens or other methods? the carbon filter works great... but its big.. heavy.. and doesn't work when the humidity is too high... not looking to get one of those shipped :p

this is starting to happen a bit in the uk also..... They used to sell a pest product at my local shop called blockout..... They had to withdraw it from sale because the EU regulators wouldn't give it a Safety Kite mark because they knew the main purpose for the product use. Get used to it folks...... I get the feeling this is how they are going to "try" and control us!!

NEXt time ring the shops, seems face to face isnt working for what ever reason.

THIs seems odd to me i just couldnt imagine a CARBon filter drought, i bet its local law enforcement or just distance themselves from the canna community and fresh faces maby just told canfan to jam it and now buy direct.

I have two brilliant mountain air filters one i paid near $500 for filter,fan,muffler,1x 5m bag of 250mm insulated duct shop kit. The other filter was a freebie after i asked what the did with the returned equipment near blocked when i got it bit after a clean it works well in a smaller room. I Couldnt grow without the filter 2foot tall 250mm neck, lx250mm CAN-fan centrifugal fan and the muffler.

I Know the US dollar is a bit weak atm so ideally pick up is what your after right? would it cost too much being heavy and large item?
check that before ordering but im sure you could hunt one down locally might just take more than the first number out of the book.

GL and Dont hate on CArbon FIlters pot NAZis. Its a whole lot of fail if you ask me!

SOunds like its only going to effect US buyers at this point.. TA

Same out here in my area..not all,but most have taken can filters off the shelves. Stating that can filters are being advertised in High Times and other pro pot publications. But at the same time others have chosen to keep them in stock!
