Strain choice for first time indoor growers

Getting ready for my first grow which is indoor, Ebb&Flow, Calif. My question is: Which strain, starting from seed, should i grow taking all things into consideration? I was advised and did buy Sage'n Sour seeds from Dr. Kronic for the following list of attributes. Should i follow through with this advice or is there a better strain considerating the following:
1. Ease of growing
2. Heartiness of plant
3. Yield
4. Potency
5. Strain Appeal

I think you should have one more category to consider, above all others...

1) What strain do I most badly want to smoke?

If you are doing a single strain grow, you should be fine with any strain you go with. The one you are excited about smoking the most will be the one that you put the most heart and pride into, and will turn out best. You will have to be attentive and deal with things as they arise no matter what strain you grow, all part of the learning experience.

You know, the more I look into this, the more it appears your statements are right. Tender loving care gives any strain a good shot at being good i'll bet. Just kinda wanted to get maybe some secret info about that magic strain that is the new hot buzzzzz, and if I am going to grow something it should me THIS!!!! Whatever "This" is.

Trust me you won't go wrong growing what you like best...usually you can find a grow thread for most strains out there to give you an idea what to expect...goood luck.

Oh and my vote goes to OG Kush...it has everything going for but not a killer yeilder, though with training can be very respectable. That's the best I've smoked, but I haven't tried it all, not even close.

Also check out Chimera Seeds forum...his stuff is said to grow easily and yeild well...Mental Floss looks like a good one and lots of others.

I also would give Mental Floss a go...

Very easy to grow and the smoke will spoil ya!

If not that one try a good NL#5 from BCSC or Dr. Atomic.

What kind of buzz are you looking for? That's my main deciding factor.

I mean yeah some strains are a little more picky than others, but if you get the learn the basics, you can grow anything.

Me personally, I like the more sativa buzz. I think most cannabis floating around these days just has that knockout, fuzzy, narcotic indica thing going on. I don't really dig it, to each their own however.

IMO Blueberry is a must, one of the top strains ever.

For some great sativas I'd go apollo 11, c99, f13, flo

Anything in the DJ short line would do you well. Yes its pricey but worth it. Hope I don't come off as a snob, but DJ shorts mentality when breeding and enjoying cannabis is one I share. Quality over quantity.

i would grow some of mandalas stuff. i grew sadhu out- it was extremely easy. barely needed nutes yet got big and stayed green, very hardy, very frosty, good taste, pleasant mellow high, was not devastatingly potent yet even seasoned smokers and people from the street really enjoyed it.

I agree with phog anything mandala will be very easy growing. I really like my Mandala#1, and hb and sq were nice.

very hard to go wrong with Mandala - Kalichakra and White Satin both really good smokes.

out of everything I have ever grown from seed which is not a lot, mostly work with gifted cuts, serious seeds ak47 fits all your criteria.

easy to grow, very stable genetics, can take a beating, good yielder, better then average to clone, great smoke and amazing bag appeal.

white russian from serious seeds is also a very close second and will also meet all your desired criteria.

Both of the above were grown from seeds that I bought early 09 so you should be able to get the same phenotype I have... also want to add that there weren't that many phenotypes either which is gonna make it easier for you to find what you want in just one pack of seeds.

Currently growing out some joey weed gear from seed and I am very impressed with the germ rate and vegetative growth with his ak99 and nl99. Haven't flipped them yet but from my research both strains will also meet your criteria.

For first timer I suggest grow some classic strain as first,my choice Skunk#1 or Northern Lights

Both Serious White Russian and Chimeras Mental Floss might work well for you. I have been growing both lately and I think they suit your needs. Easy to grow, very robust, great yield, very potent and good bag appeal.

I do prefer the Mental Floss but would be happy with either.

id get Supersilverhaze from mr nice, after you finish that will be the 1 to beat. 1 of the best strains ever and theres a few phenos in a pack but its got a nice stone and head buzz with nice smells it leaves in the air and nice cuban cigar like taste.

Skunk #1, Norhern lights pure Indica from Nirvana, White Rhino. Mandala's strains are good as well. Happy and safe growing.
