Canada Licenses Man to Grow 292 Plants and Sell Too!

Canada has just granted a medical marijuana patient a license to grow a record 292 plants to feed his need for 60 grams of cannabis daily. He doesn't smoke the pot. He uses it to make a cream that he applies on his skin to treat his various problems as well as butter for baking, thus he needs a lot.

He has also been granted the right to grow and sell cannabis to two other patients. Canada has recently struck down the government's marijuana growing and distributing monopoly, and opened it up to others. Sam Mellace, the patient says he hopes to open up a chain of cannabis dispensaries.

Im planning to leave the UK & move to British Columbia, the fact they are taking it out of government control & monopolization is unbeleivably free, even for Canada!

thats weird...

recently health canada is harassing every doctor who prescribe , they want to limit to 3 grams a day and 15 plants .if prescribed more than 3 grams they ask the doctor why , we already have trouble to have a specialist to sign a single paper ...so they know if they put a little pressure they will discourage the doctor to prescribe more than 3 g a day .

a lot of patient who have been prescribed between 3- 5 grams received a license only for 3 grams and 15 plants no matter the prescription .

then you have this guy with 292 plants ??????????????

60 grams a day.............when the majority get a pain in the ass to get more than 3 grams ????????????

wonder if this will have an impact on the no more than 3 g a day policy , if you ask for 5 grams for dealing with pain equivalent to this old man . i weight 3 times more than this old man and he get 60 g a days.............

Wow great video I cannot believe I missed this.

FREE MARC!

Also watch Super High Me guy (famous stoner comedian) does one month sober then one month on weed and even has a doctor document health.

Really great watch he even visits Marc Emery and tokes with him.

He has increased lung capacity and brain activity since he started smoking again in the movie lol.

I really hope sometime soon in the States we can be in a better situation.

It kills me every time I watch something like this or read about licences being given out to patients in the states and Canada. I wish my government would wake up and realize that the long prohibition we've been forced to endure never has and never will work. I hope that in this case our government here in Australia plays 'follow the leader' like they do with almost every other situation involving the U.S and Canada. It's been too long, the suffering caused by prohibition is one of societies major problems. Legalize it, decriminalize it whatever, I don't care. The hypocritical nature of the situation where alcohol and tobacco are legal and kill hundreds of thousands whilst weed deaths=0 just doesn't make any sense at all. What a fucked up world we live in...

I saw that NatGeo special too, and these plants look like trees, over 6 feet tall easy, maybe 10 feet tall, full of buds. I'm thinking he's getting a pound dry easy off each plant, maybe 2-3 lbs depending on strain... He's probably averaging 100-200 lbs a month in that warehouse, you think?

When they stood inside the warehouse with the plants, there werent even buds at head level. Those plants were TALL!

Well, the plants looked like they were in some sort of RDWC system, at least 5 gallon buckets, more likely 10 or 20. They were tall yes but they were also set off the floor some (trunk probably started 2-3 feet above the floor), and the nearest buds were at head height and they were only that low because the buds were weighing down the branches.

I saw the national geographic episode as well, and knew who the guy was as soon as I read the first post.

I guess now I am a bit satisfied to know that he isn’t making it all into canabutter, which is what I originally thought. One would likely become a little porker after eating all that food/butter… I would imagine he at least vaps a bit aswell.

I also got the distinct impression that Lisa Ling wanted to try one of those edibles; she is cute.

He sells his buds to compassion clubs as
well as making edibles. There was a cannabis
culture article about his grow stating he supplies
clubs. I don't believe anyone could ingest 60 grams
a day even in cream and edibles. Unless your
turning your buds into budder or bho or bubble
I just don't believe it.

I agree. 60g is a little over two ounces. Even if he were making it into bho, that would be 6g of bho a day he'd be smoking and that would be tough to do, day in and day out.

lol, 60 grams a day? seems pretty much even for a cream, but who am i to argue when things get legalized. However i believe its wrong to give commercial licenses to people then jail others from growing small time. But atleast things are happening.

I have a health canada exemption for 10 grams a day which is 49 plants, 300 grams in your possession and 4.85lbs in storage. the way i got my license was i did not allow my doctor to talk with health canada when they called, so their hands where tied and they had to process the paper work!!! Remember your not just the patient your also the doctors BOSS.

How's he get his butter so clean. I saw it on the NG doc and it looked like it was straight out of the supermarket. Does reboiling it in water multiple times really purify it to that extent?
