picking up cordless phones with a scanner

my house has many other houses right next door, and I know that people used to pickup cordless phones with a scanner. Although I think these are mostly the older phones, but it still makes me paranoid. I have a new set of cordless phones that run at a higher frequency and i dont think scanners can pick it up. Does anyone know?

there is a woman across the road that used to listen in on neighbors with her scanner. I know this to be a fact, so it worries me abit that she can pickup my newer phones. Im not worried about being busted but if she knows I have a grow, and obviously sees when I leave to work.. It makes me abit uneasy

and yes I talk to my buddy on the phone enough to give that all away

The old phones could be picked up on 1.6 - 1.8 Mhz on FM. Any high frequency scanner would get them

New phones use new frequencies and are better protected but still CAN be picked up if you know what you are doing

It is best to ALWAYS assume that somebody is listening in to your conversation, use pre-coded words and use common sense

This is the 21st century, you would be amazed at how far telecommunications have come. Nothing is safe in this post 9/11 paranoia. Big brother IS listening

There are thousands of radio hams and short wave listeners out there in Amerika

They all are tuning in to what traffic is available and anybody who has listened in will tell you that this is the best time to due so - Alcohol makes people do things and it is great to hear what your local neighberhood is up to

Some of the things i have heard over the years, wished i had taped them, made my fortune.

Homeland security (BIG BROTHER) is listening to you

Use common sense please and be safe. Even baby monetors (49 MHz) are picked up by bored local hams. Parents sound so stupid and say the daftest things

I wouldn't be worried about scanners..... if you are talking about your grow on the phone, you should be worried about LEO.....

You should not talk about weed on the phone.... period.

If you have a wireless phone (any freq.) w/o Digital Spread Spectrum your signal can be eavesdropped on.

My friend does it all the time.

We sit there and listen to neighbors talk to grandma.

The inexpensive scanner is modified and not exactly compliant with local code. But they aren't hard to get.

Not sure about cordless phones....but I have a scanner, and pick up cell phone conversations all the time. The first time I used it, in the first half hour, I heard people discussing prostitution, drugs and gambling. I had guys placing large bets on NBA games (thousands of dollars), and doing drug deals. People seem to forget when talking on their cells that anyone can listen in.....
