Cannabis Culture Facebook Page Censored!

Cannabis Culture magazine has had its Facebook page removed without adequate explanation. The page was very popular with 25,000 "fans". It seems on the same day another page from Beverly Hills NORML was also deleted.

What is going on with Facebook? Why are popular cannabis pages being removed? Is this the result of a new gov't campaign against marijuana?

Or is it just Facebook that is waging an anti-marijuana campaign?

Very interesting factoid in that video concerning this company called In-Q-Tel which has invested in Facebook...

Here's a quote from wikipedia:
In-Q-Tel of Arlington, Virginia, United States is a not-for-profit venture capital firm that invests in high-tech companies for the sole purpose of keeping the Central Intelligence Agency equipped with the latest in information technology in support of United States intelligence capability.[4] Originally named Peleus and known as In-Q-It, In-Q-Tel was launched in 1999 under the direction of Gilman Louie.[4] In-Q-Tel’s mission is to identify and invest in companies developing cutting-edge technologies that serve United States national security interests. Working from an evolving strategic blueprint defining the Intelligence Community's critical technology needs, In-Q-Tel engages with entrepreneurs, growth companies, researchers, and venture capitalists to deliver technologies that provide superior capabilities for the CIA, DIA, NGA, and the larger Intelligence Community. In-Q-Tel concentrates on three broad commercial technology areas: software, infrastructure and materials sciences.

In-Q-Tel functions partially in public, however what products it has and how they are used is strictly secret. According to the Washington Post, virtually any U.S. entrepreneur, inventor or research scientist working on ways to analyze data has probably received a phone call from In-Q-Tel or at least been Googled by its staff. The Constitutional repercussions of this disclosure alarm some critics.
I've always known that the US gov't was secretly involved with these high-tech companies that do data mining. Now apparently they've corrupted them all and we have yet to see any benefits resulting from it. It seems only members of this company are profiting, even though it's supposed to be a non-profit.

So anything you do on a site like Facebook is being data-mined by your gov't. Not to say they're not mining the entire internet, but on a site like Facebook, your most personal info is probably being permanently recorded (like your permanent record at school). Even if you cancel your account, the data is still resting on some Gov't computer, permanently out of your reach...but easily accessible by many gov't agents.

So what this company does, is it invests in high-tech data based companies, gets access to its proprietary software, which it then implements on its own servers. This means it can not only create its own programs based on that technology, but more than likely it can use that software to access all the data from the company it invested in. So they get the technology AND the data from all these companies, probably in close to real-time.

In short, it means BIG BROTHER is WATCHING YOU!

It's our countries "not so secret" war of information against us. Most people don't care because they're just "sheep" being led to and fro....but they'll wake up one day...I hope?

The worst case scenario of abuse of this information would be to separate groups of people based on some criteria and then discriminate against them in some way.

Businesses like insurance companies already do this. They can now data-mine your internet activities to see if you're an insurance risk and charge you more if you are or deny you coverage. A good example is if you apply for health or life insurance and they see in your facebook page that you like to party and use drugs and get drunk. Sorry no insurance for you!

But when the gov't decides to discriminate, the consequences could be much worse. I'm sure I don't need to remind ppl of the nazis. Imagine what they could've done with such data on everyone?

Now they can look up your bank balance & all your electronic transactions. Spending more than you earn? Look out! The IRS will soon be knocking on your door for an explanation!

Applying for that student loan? Oh, wait you're a medical marijuana patient. Sorry we don't give loans to marijuana users.

In the future the forms the gov't will require you to fill out will probably be much smaller. Why? Cause they already know everything about you!!!

I've always said that I wouldn't be caught dead on any of those sites - facebook, twitter, etc. This is the only site I need regarding cannabis.

Security risk proven, I'd stay where it's safe... :rasta:

facebook and myspace are huge information collecting hubs

the information is not private, and it will not be treated that way; especially by governments

insurance companies deny you based on what you put on your application, not from myspace :p
they have 2 years to find out if you've lied on your application which they can verify with your doctor when you use the insurance...
thats why you NEVER admit to drinking or smoking to your doctor because he WILL share that with your insurance company.

Facebook is not your friend. Seriously.
Anyone interested should read the book "The Naked Consumer". It gives the ultimate breakdown on the history of how paper/info work/trails have turned into a tool against the general public to be used for the benefit of large corporate interests and government agencies alike.
The one thing that stuck since the years I have read it, is that ALL paperwork will(it is only a matter of time) be used for purposes other than that of it's original intent. And that information is used against you, period.
:deadxmas:Have a Happy New Year folks!

I personally know little about Facebook or Twitter, having never visited either site.
Interestingly though, I was speaking with a women at a get together a few days back who is responsible for hiring a lot of personnel for a large oil company she is employed with. During the conversation she mentioned to me that she will often look at facebook and Twitter accounts of prospective employees she has interviewed. She said that she often finds it very revealing, and as a result of her findings has passed over hiring many people that would have likely been hired otherwise.
Just some food for thought.

Yeah....great post Skip!

....I have never ventured to post any of my details/pics on sites such as face-book, twitt er.....etc....but still there is a lot out there re-youtube etc...(even on ICM)...lol

But then I am not applying for a job nor insurance so I don't really care about my personal situation......and prefer not to hide myself behind too much of a screen/veil..

For those that are trying to seek employment or insurance, or are engaged in some activity deemed unfavorable by the powers that be I would definitely say DON'T BOTHER.....

facebook sold out around 3 years ago? since Its one of the best profiling/marketing tools, information compiling sources there is. I wouldn't provide (much less display on profile) physical address, phone # etc. or associate my $ accounts with facebook either. never did in the first place and wouldn't even use it now. Data harvesting, a perfect medium for information war, profiling to determine content displayed, advertisements designed "for you" and quite often thoroughly misleading; its all bogus now. Their sudden site changes and subsequent loopholes in privacy/security policy are no surprise, even after 5 or 6 times lol.
