Brand new mixed-vent S&P. I left my partner to install it. He didn't read about the multi speed part and hooked up a 3 wire plug to all three wires of the fan. It instantly started smoking from the motor. We rewired it to the "high" setting only and it hummed but did not spin. Any chance at redemption here? Any waranty thoughts. It specifically says not to do this at the start of the manual. Kind of thinking that we are SOL.

i did the same thing... how long did you let the motor smoke for? i noticed immediately and rewired it. it runs fine now but it smells like im remodeling(a subtle paint/caulk smell) but that was present before i started messing with the wiring.

Thanks for the replies. I will have to check tomorrow and see how long it was on for. It did start blowing smoke out. When I got there a while later it still smelled pretty bad. We did wire it correctly and then it just "hummed". The fan did not move. I will contact them tomorrow, but really it was our mistake. Maybe they will sell me a motor on a deal? Otherwise is there somewhere to buy a new motor for these that someone knows of? I mean do these kind of companies manufacture their own motors or buy third party and then put everything together? I guess thinking about it, since they are a little unique that they probally make their own.
