Roots Coming Out of My Container

Okay, I just wanted to ask a question here. I don't know if this probem is that bad, but I thought I'd ask.

I am growing a Bubblicious plant that is about a month old right now. I've topped it twice so far and it looks good and bushy.

I just picked up the 1 gal. container to notice that roots are coming out of the bottm...a lot of them, too. The good thing is they look healthy.

I guess since I had it inside another similar sized container, the roots crept out the drainage holes to find more space?

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

This is a prime indication that a transplant to your larger container is in order. The best time to do it is after a water so the root ball holds well. Sounds like everything is going well.:watchplant:

how big is the container?

sounds like your soil was alittle dry so the roots went hunting water and found it in the base of lowest pot.

Ive run coco in the top pot with 2 inch of bubbling water in the base, same thing happened but was late in flower by the time i had a tangled mess down there..

You may have to just let it go, put a block of plastic or pvc in bottom pot so roots dont get squashed later,

just cause they are coming out doesn't mean the plant is rootbound.

flip her over, hold her tight where she comes out of the dirt, give her a few taps on the the bottom and she will come out.

if what comes out is almost solid white with roots, then transplant, otherwise, let her be.

"flip her over, hold her tight where she comes out of the dirt, give her a few taps on the the bottom and she will come out. " This is a fairly good method, but can still tear roots even when the plant is fairly dry. A better way (that works at different moisture levels too) is to give the 'taps' on the bottom of the container first, with the plant upright. Done right, the plant will be loose enough that it will fall out as soon as it's tipped upside down. If not, a few squeezes and a push on the bottom will loosten it. This way, no roots tear, no shock at all.
