A purple cross you may not have seen before.

Hey there, just thought I'd share some pics taken of a cross that was made back in 2000 or so. It's a cross between BCGA's Orange Crush(F1s) crossed with what was an almost black pheno of Nirvana's White Rhino. The original black WR never impressed me because I didn't care for the bud structure but my friends flipped out over it, having never seen anything like it. I never had a male WR so I crossed it with OC and LUI way back then to try and preserve it, hoping some day I'd be able to pop them and find some nice purples. Each year I'd pop a handful of each and would always get some pinks in the colors but nothing as pretty as this year, finally. These are at about 6 weeks right now. Enjoy

I decided this morning that I am going to... I was just doing some math and realized they're actually only 5 weeks in.. I found a couple lower spots where I can take some cuttings from 2 that turned out like this.. got a spare area with some T5s that I can put the cuts back to 24 hours and hopefully I can get lucky and save one of the two, if not both.. I totally wasn't expecting them to turn out so pretty because 5-6 years of past attempts of the same beans never spawned anything like these..Had I known I woulda taken cuts before flower.. We'll see..

So bill, do you remember how many beans you popped over the years before you found this pheno.

smoke1sun, If I were to guess probably 50-60 beans, so probably 25-30 females.. It's also possible that colder temps are playing a role this time, although those plants are in with another 8-9 different strains that aren't purpling like this at all(including DJ's FLO and F13, both noted for being blue/purpling) ..I also remember the original almost black white rhino was grown in an area that was probably in the 80s all the time and it almost looked fake it was so dark, so it may not be a temp issue at all. If the cuttings take and make it I'll make sure they get tested in another range of temperatures..

Damn that's purple alright... So hows the smell on it? Does it have the classic purple scent?

Wish I could tell ya if it was a classic purple smell but it's the only purple i've ever ran before so I have zero experience.. The whole thing was fluke that I ran across it.. All the purple is due to an almost black pheno of Nirvana's White Rhino many years ago, I never expected anything remotely purple at the time, and by complete chance wanted to practice making seeds and happened to choose that plant to cross with the Orange Crush before it ever even started purpling.. I also realized within the last week that I also have the same White Rhino crossed with LUI and it as well is quite purple, it just started later.. I'll try and get some snaps of that when it comes down as well..

Well have you smoked any of the purples floating around Cali? Like Grape Ape, Lavender, Mendo Purps, Erkle ect? They all have a similar scent in them that I love which I only find in purples...

Your purple looks a lot like the black russian purple they where hoarding a while back.

Nice Job , i can only imagine how full your pm box is right now.
Hopefully you can find a strain that has some purple in the dominant trait and you can hit her up with some pollen and lock that trait in.
