FloraNova Grow and Bloom Formula for Soil?

Ok, so i will be using FloraNova Grow and FloraNova Bloom as my main nutrients and other than that just some PK 13/14 in the middle/end of flowering. but anyways, is there a formula out there like the Lucas Formula but for soil that will tell me how many ml of FN to feed my plants in the different stages of growth? I found the directions on the bottle to be too strong, so this would help me out alot.

Thanks

Ok, the reason the Lucas Formula has you use 5ml during veg and 8ml during flowering is because it's a Hydro Formula right? 2-3 ml per Gal will be fine since i'm growing in Soil? I use to have a specific formula i used, but i stopped growing for well over a year and it's slipped my memory but i'll use the Formula you suggested.

Thanks!

Are we talking soilless here? Or organic soil?

If soilless (Promix, Sunshine Mix, B'cuzz Hydromix HP, etc) feed as I suggested.

If in real-life dirt, I'm not so sure.

hi marquis

im new to lucas formula and floranova. im using promix hp.

so i just get the bottle of floranova bloom, and feed at 2-3 mls every feeding all the way up to harvest??? do i need to monitor ppms or anything like that??? will this work with tap water? (100-200 ppm?)

I'm going to be using Pro-Mix BX or FFOF, whatever is cheaper and easier for me to get. So Formulas for Organic Soil and Soiless would be great if you wouldn't mind helping me out with those.

Why do alot of people suggest using just the FN Bloom and not the FN Grow? Is that what i should do? I mean, it would be cheaper so i'm all for it if that is the better option.

Thanks

I use the grow, personally. As I find I get slightly greener plants in veg with it. I just started using it, so I can't say for sure whether the difference shows in flower. The difference between the two isn't large.

Grow- 7-4-10
Bloom- 4-8-7

Personally, I think it's worth $25/qt - $80/gal for the bottle of Grow if you find for some reason your plants like a little more nitrogen. Remember, Lucas is a barebones feeding program. I've heard people recommend using the Grow for the first 2 weeks of flower as well, I'm trying that with my current crop, but can't verify quite yet.

I have experience with FFOF and Fox Farms Nutrients, but have never tried FN Bloom with it. FFOF is hot in my opinion, so you're asking for buildup problems, which in dirt are no fun. Promix would be my medium of choice in this case.

Deepforest, I've experienced no problems with tap water + FN bloom, but that doesn't mean you won't.

According to Lucas, you're looking at around 450ppms w/ tap water @ 1/3 strength. (Ie, 2-3mls per gallon) At full strength you're looking at around 1350ppms. You don't NEED to monitor TDS or EC, but it's always helpful, IMO.

i dont think lucas is compatible with soil. because soil has nutrients in it. its designed for hydroponics and soilless (promix) is technically hydro cause it doesnt contain any nutrients other than the starter charge.

Alright, so 1/3 Strength according to the Lucas Formula is 2-3ml (450ppm's). So 450ppm's every watering is what i should be feeding them? 2ml is for Bloom Formula in Flowering and the 3ml would be when using the Grow Formula in vegging right?

EDIT: I notice alot of people prefer Pro-Mix HP for Indoors which is where i will be growing. I use the same amount (2-3ml) for the HP version too right?

Also, will i be ok just using the FN Grow and Bloom and PK 13/14 for a flower booster? I might need some Cal-Mag depending on what my tap water has in it right? Although i know FN has some Cal/Mag In it.

I have a few more questions too, i know i'm asking a ton of questions but i'm just a little confused. I have only grown in soil before, and my memory isn't that great lol.

But anyways, i decided i will be using the Pro-Mix HP. Normally i used 3-5ml of the Canna PK 13/14 per Gallon of water when growing in regular soil. Since i'm using less of the FN when changing to Pro-Mix will i therefore want to use less Canna PK 13/14 than i normal used? Or should i still follow the bottle directions. I just want ti make sure i'm giving them enough of the PK 13/14 and i'm not underfeeding but also not going to heavy. I really want to have everything planned out beforehand so i don't run into a ton of problems trying to dial them in.

Also, since Flora Nova is "PH Stabilized" should i still add Dolomite Lime to the Pro-Mix or not, if i am still supposed to use the lime how much should i use per 3.8cu ft bale of the Pro-Mix HP?

Since the Pro-Mix HP is already very aerated, how much Chunky Perlite should i add to the Pro-Mix if any?

I will probably buy some Cal-Mag as well since from what i have read some people have problems with their Cal/Mag Levels when using tap water. It's better to be safe than sorry and i want to be completely prepared this grow.

Skip the Grow, ya don't need it unless you're growing Trees. If you figure later on you need larger internode length, go for it but the Bloom is really all you need for now.

8ml/gallon is full strength for the Bloom, Grow you would use a bit less.
Lucas IS compatible with soil
Feed every third watering or Dilute your full str mix to 1/3rd and use every watering. The nutrients will build up in the soil so you'll need to watch and possibly feed plain water for more than 2-3 feedings at some point.

I would recommend the MaxiBloom instead of FloraNova though. It's a dry fert and has everything you need.

I would also skip any bloom boosters until you have a few crops with just plain nutes. Hard to 'learn' the plant when you're adding variables throughout the grow. :D

Stay Safe!

Hydro-Soil - Thanks. I have already grown with the PK 13/14 i was just wondering what amounts i would use if growing in Pro Mix. I know the Pro Mix HP has lime in it, but when should i add more and how much should i add per 3.8cu ft bale of Pro Mix HP? And i'm thinking i should only add 10-15% Perlite since it's already very aerated unlike the Pro Mix BX. Or should i add more (20-25%)?

Daddy-O... im basically doing the same set up (soil,nutes..no tea tho) as you!! How do you feel about the molasses and what has it done for you? I know there are several threads about the "molasses topic" but since its close I wanted your opinion. What light set up ya got?

thanks

:yeahthats
Believe that. Hydro-Soil knows what he is talking about. Lucas is definitly compatable with soil and soil-less. I could type out a bunch of info here but it might be more helpful if you just clicked my thread in m sig for aome examples. I have been using lucas formula with soil (FFOF with some adjustments) for about 3 yrs now. I just ran out of bloon nutes and i was thinking of going with something else.... then i said, why??? If it ani't broke...
