Look like leaf hoppers to me...... Can you get a closer/bigger pic of them?

If that is what they are, Safer Insecticidal soap kills them on contact.

Also, be sure to check that ants are not getting into your grow rooms, they tend to bring these in to harvest the "honeydew" they excrete...

You have "thrips"

Hmm, I didn't even consider that... If you can confirm Leaf Hoppers OR Thrips please.... Again, closer up pics would most certainly help..

If Thrips, Monterey Garden Insect Spray w/ Spinosad will help ya :joint:

I was going to guess thrips as well. Being the only critter I've had a problem with I'm no expert, but I sure can't rule them out from that photo. The leaf damage looks the same as well. Touch one with your fingernail or the tip of a pen or something and see if it jumps. If it does, i still can't rule out thrips.

Where the heck would thrips come from? Ive never had experience with these little guys, and its winter over here so they couldnt have come from outside?

jeez, i dont want to spray anything on my plants, they are doing amazing except for these "thrips.".

Is there anything else i could do?

Do they fly? If they fly more than likely are leaf hoppers and were brought in by ants foraging for food. They collect the "honeydew" excrement of leaf hoppers.

Definitely thrips. Either use a synthetic pyrethrum, or insect soap. You can put up some cheap sticky traps to catch the flyers that don't get the soap. My buddy kills all his bug problems with a tobacco/nicotine spray, just a pain to make.

Just spraying with water jacks them up pretty good. They can't move through the mist/water an atomized sprayer makes.

Oh, they are attracted to blue and pink by the way. So if you get a sticky, make sure it is the one with the pink stripes.

Thrips fly also. If it is leaf hoppers, then use a black trap.

Hey thanks Jaybutta. Im sure I do now, My fan leaves are speckled.

I let it get this bad because I thought it was fungus gnat damage. usually if I let the soil dry up and put the fans on, it decreases the fungus gnats...

But obviously these arent gnats... Jeez.

I dont want to risk the smell and taste of my harvest with neem....

I dont think NPS would work for thrips, would they?

"Thrips (Order Thysanoptera) are tiny, slender insects with fringed wings (thus the scientific name, from the Greek thysanos (fringe) + pteron (wing)). Other common names for thrips include thunderflies, thunderbugs, storm flies, and corn lice. Thrips species feed on a large variety of sources both plant and animal by puncturing them and sucking up the contents. A large number of thrips species are considered pests, because they feed on plants with commercial value. Some species of thrips feed on other insects or mites and are considered beneficial, while some feed on fungal spores or pollen. So far around 5,000 species have been described. Thrips are generally tiny (1 mm long or less) and are not good flyers, although they can be carried long distances by the wind. In the right conditions, many species can explode in population and swarm everywhere, making them an irritation to humans."

Typically you don't see many, if any airborne Thrips.
