Isn`t the whole country Going Digital in 2010.Know nothin of them but willing to read.
far ken oath its so hot.

I run 600w Lumatek. Guy at my local hydroshop said that the only bulb specifically designed for pulse starting is the USHIO growlux. Its made in Germany. Very top of the line bulb, (doesnt rattle when you shake it) set me back 110 USD, BUT its been working flawlessly for 6 months now.

I have no idea of its availability down under however.

Peace!

Quantum ballasts, my trusty local shop says they get back 10 lumateks for every Quantum, and they sold me 1k's for 264 each. They even come with both 120v and 240v cords! Dimmer feature is cool too.

What do people think of the next Gen Digital Ballasts? Anybody in Oz purchased one of these?

I'm a nextgen owner and I also own some lumateks, and I rate the nextgens over the lumateks....

Had to many dramas with the the lumateks specifically lamp compatibility, some of the Lamps I have had problems with are.........Son-t agro, sunmaster dual spectrum and the sunmaster mh conversion. The problems have ranged from burning out brand new lamps to not firing up and firing up only some of the time.

I've had the nextgens 600/400 and they have run flawlessly for the past 3 months. Pretty cool little units (size 9.5'x 7' x 2') have two built fans to keep them cool, plus the added bonus of being able to run both 600w and 400w bulbs which is great for me as I can veg with 400w Mh's then switch to 600w sodium’s for flower. Another great feature is the ballast has a trouble shooting feature indicated through different light sequences on the ballast.......pretty clever huh!?!?!

In conclusion thus far.....

Lumatek= mediocre
Nextgen= impressive/worth every cent.

Hope that helps.

Yeah i use a ushio growlux in my 600w lumatek digi. Works great, no problems in over 5-6 months, so far so good, this is around the time I change bulbs anyway (2 cycles).

what about the sunmaster hps deluxe which supposedly is 28 dollars with 385 par watts as mentioned in george cervantes book?

merry xmas all!:santa1:

Daemo and treez, are those Next Gen ballasts the one's with the built in fans that can run a 400W or 600W bulb from the same 600W ballast? If so, I was looking to get one, mighty impressed by the build quality alone but a bit pricey. Perhaps I'll wait another few months before making the investment. Cannot wait until we have 600W LED growlights that will just tear everything else to shreds, they're coming, just a matter of time...
