US Court of Appeals: Hemp is Dope, Justice Says NO!

In another example of the blatant hypocrisy of America's Drug War, industrial hemp takes it on the chin. The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled against hemp saying it is nothing more than "dope."

Industrial hemp which only contains miniscule amounts of the active ingredient in marijuana, THC, has been banned from the US since the end of WWII, when it was last grown for the war effort.

Despite growing US demand for hemp products like clothes, insulation, foods made from hemp seeds, hemp oil, etc., the US government, particularly the DEA, refuses to allow it to be produced in the US.

By denying the historical uses of hemp and the science behind it that says it's not a drug, the DEA continues to live in a fantasy land, hurting American businesses and consumers and forcing us to import 100% of the hemp needed for our economy.

In doing so they are protecting certain big businesses from outside competition including the paper and timber industries, cotton and fiber industries and others that would be negatively affected by an increase in the use of hemp in thousands of products.

It appears there is still a long way to go in educating our government and politicians about hemp, as well as the general public.

I don't think our government and politicians can be educated. The people.. For the most part.

A gal here in MT just got the go ahead from the state to begin a commercial hemp farm. Well see what comes of it, pretty sure she was suing the fed gov`t for the right to. Wonder if this affected her..

i dont understand how hemp can still be illegal.....were shooting ourselves in the foot repeatedly on this issue.
theres obvious alterior motives at work here.....

How horribly sad. I too wish there was a way to sue the government. Crazy as said we have to import it to be legal. Thanks skip.

this is an atrocity

the value of this plant as of fiber, oil and food may outweigh its value as medicine

certainly as a more ecologically friendly source of those noted commodities

survival of the fittest (richest). This has nothing to do with making the world a better place for the common man. All men are created equally is a farce. Even the happy hippie has been conned into a movement that furthers our enslavement (the green movement) Proof, carbon credit trading. Karma, One Love

I watched a documentary about the alternative uses to the cannabis plant other than just the flowers, and because of the cellulose levels in weed you can (supposedly) make a far far superior paper product for cheaper with less chemicals. All I ever hear is how hemp is easy to produce, is high quality, and has advantages that last decades over synthetic alternatives.

Industrial agriculture of Hemp in America will only come about when a law suit is brought that demands equal regulation for both Hemp and Tobacco.

Sue for tobacco to be regarded as a schedule one drug, alongside non-THC Hemp.

Ask how much more dangerous Hemp is to society compared to the dangers from tobacco.

Even though tobacco is the leading preventable cause of death in the United States, killing more than 400,000 Americans every year, tobacco products remain virtually unregulated and are exempt from basic health regulations that apply to foods, drugs, cosmetics and many other products.

I can't believe this, why does congress continue to IGNORE Ron Paul and the Hemp issue?

The surpreme court has their hands tied, its considered a drug if the law says it is a drug.... Thats how they have to rule...

I have a good guess why this is happening.... Evil is hard at work...

Abolish the federal government. We don't need it. We would still have state, county, city, and neighborhood associations.

How many friggin' governments do we need?

We can pave our own roads.

Do you actually believe all 50 States would rally around International threats and willingly send their Sons and Daughters in our defense ?
