His reading technique consisted of reading the left page with his left eye and the right page with his right eye and in this way he could read two pages at time with a rate of about 8-10 seconds per page.

Wow...

I've seen documentaries on this guy,I think it went beyond memorization, I think he was actually learning everything he read.

Which makes his gifts all that more amazing.

RIP brother twisted soul. :joint:

Well, as a savant I don't think he truly learned it. He had the ability of total recall and memorizing everything he read, but if you were to ask him to make logical conclusions with the data he memorized he could or would have difficulties.

This doesn't mean that he was anything less than amazing.

its real sad to see this. i've watched a few documentaries about this man before, and he was a fucking human computer.

what troubles me is that this probably wont receive nearly as much coverage as brittany murphy, or the next hollywood scumbag that dies.

rest in peace kim.

I'm by no means an expert on the subject matter, but I did/do suffer from a mild form of autism.

I too have much better than average memory recall, and with that was able to learn more easily than most.Granted, the level of his disability was much higher of course, but in my case it was a distinct advantage while learning new subjects.

Yes, he had all that information and no way to actually utilize or extrapolate....shame.

Peace,
