I'm in the process of designing a new cabinet as my current flower box has been plagued by spider mites. That box is powered by 150w HPS, and kept on the balcony, so it was quite easy to contaminate it. It does work nice, however, if it's bug free - i had steady yield of 15-25 g every 10-15 days (not spectacular, I know, but I never got the feeding regimen for my AK48 right).
Anyway, keeping my box on the balcony proved a bigger challenge than I expected not because of the low temps but because I find watering to be quite a pain in the ass, especially in cold winter nights. I switched from 0,5 l pots to 1l, but for my new grow I'm looking into suitable bigger containers, preferably with smaller drain holes than on my current poly pots. I really don't like the dunking method of watering as it takes me almost 10 minutes per plant. And I have 32 of those in the box. Ouch.
Anyway, I decided to build a cfl flower box of about 2,5 sqft, 30'' tall. I want to use 10 23w cfls for lighting, but here's the catch: a while ago I ran into TemptedSoul's setup with six 70 watt HPS bulbs:
And since than I'have this urge to try to replicate this on smaller scale with cfl's. Before I get cracking with this one, I would really like your input.

So my girlfriend and I were contemplating buying an HPS grow light.
We would still like to do this the Dr. Bud style, in 16oz containers, and many of them.
Could anyone recommend me an HPS wattage for this style of grow? I was thinking perhaps a 150w would do the job, but I've got no experience during the flowering stage. I had one plant grown under CFL's for 1 1/2 months of veg, but the soil had a gnat problem and killed my baby ;-;
Any input would be great, thank you!

It appears that haters have driven away another valuable resource.

I for one am sad to see him leave!
Most haters are challenging him on topics he is very prolific on.
If you challenge his yield, prove him wrong! If you don't believe in his methods; again, disprove it. Maybe it is bullshit and then again maybe it aint.
It takes no effort to call bullshit on someone, it does take effort to prove it! I have seen MJ do amazing things personally.
My biggest disappointment is to see a mans thread turn against him. Having to defend himself on his own deep woods DIAL-UP internet connection. Is it any wonder that he has left this thread. The last time he was here; according to what I can see, was on post 54, sometime in July.
Is it really a surprise that we are STILL subject to antiquated laws from the 20s and 30s, when we subject members from our own unique community to such abuse.
Do you think Phillip-Morris would have this problem if MJ we're made available legally in liquor stores or at wal-mart?

DrBud's methods are working.
I use it - and without even tuned it in I get over 1.5gpw (I use flouroscent tubes instead of CFL).

Prob a really bad question, but is the mother cab on the same light schedule as the clone cab? or are they the same cab all together?
Damn it I gotta come in and ruin the day.... I didn't switch to HPS cuz my DrBud setup didn't work like he said it would and honestly my Thunder Goo's under HID are just as frosty as CFL but we'll see and the reasoning behind me not pulling those numbers is I got new strains not completely dialed and that's what you've seen over the last year but rest assured that I know what strain to run in that cab and I will make a new thread for this method to shut everybody up once and for all.. Do you guys hate it cuz you couldn't get it to work? I would if I started out with a strain like SR71 Purple Kush which I tossed from the garden but yea that strain made this set up worthless by how slow it vegged I could NEVER have 4-5 cuts a week off a bonsai like the rest of my strains and it needed to be grow to 12" for it's sweet spot! My Blue Dream hits 18"-22" when flowered at 3"-4" and will give those numbers so will my new bagseed from the looks of her so give me some time cuz I need to pick which strain I want to have perpetually in a 0 Veg SOG ...
Oh Scarryharry you got a long way to go buddy but yea you were wrong, The moms,clones and vegging plants need to be on a 18/6 schedule or 24hrs pretty much just need to have 18hrs of light or more.. I keep my moms under 24hr light so they grow a lil bit quicker...
When you flower your ladies you will put them under 12 hrs of light and 12 hrs of dark
Get a PH Drop Test Kit and keep your nutrient solution between 5.5-7.0
Go with coco not soil
find a nice hybrid or if you have access to clubs try to get a Blue Dream cut since I KNOW it works in this system and make a mom by topping branches to make more branches grow out to take clones of and when your mom has 4-7 nice 4"-5" branches cut them and make them clones by lightly scraping the bottom of the stem and dipping in Rooting Gel (Root Tech or Clonex) and stick them in Rapid Rooters or Jiffy 7 pellets and you want to do this EVERY 7-8 days cuz it will take 14 days to have fully rooted clones to transplant and you ALWAYS want new ones a week apart so you can have your rows coming in and out perpetually harvest a row and start a row and if you follow this you will be harvesting 7g of Blue Dream per plant every week but! Make sure to veg the clones under 24hr light after transplanting and let them grow to the 4" mark before flowering and you will be on your way!!!

I think you miss understood me. How can a question be wrong first off? I wasnt sure if the clones were in the same box as the mom. So obv if you keep the moms and clones on the same lighting i could potentially have one mom and take clones and start them right nxt to the mom in the same box. See wherre I was kinda going with this?
thats what i thought my autoflowers would achieve, but im looking more towards a mother now that ive given em 30 days and theyre being a pain. trying to figure out 12 seperate phenotypes at once is so much harder than finding a good mother and dialing her in for max yield/flavor/high
im gonna start following this thread as i build my mother chamber
