console systems are going to be obsolete very soon. check out onlive. play any game, any system, anytime, streaming instantly to your house via internet. i just became a beta tester for them.....

People have been saying that consoles are dying for as long as I can remember and they've always been wrong.
Until someone comes up with a PC that can play any game released in a ~3 year window without a component upgrade, then the console is here to stay.
I can't play console games anymore because my hands are at the whim of the evil MS, but when I did play I favored the 360.

Just picked up the X-BOX 360 Elite to replace my old 360. Graphics are great! 1080p FTW!

Well, I'm not a kid by any stretch though many days I wish I were. Knockin on 45! LOL I already have a Blu-Ray so I went with the X-BOX Elite.

Personally I've had more fun with my DS than any other console. I play most games on my PC anyway, and I'll probably never get a console again. Compared to PC gaming, a console just feels too restricted.

A highend system from 3 years ago can play todays games... 8800gtx is 3 years old and can still max out most games today.
i know the ps3 and xbox360 are great my friend has them both, but i love playin the wii especially when im baked out of my mind fun times man fun times! im gonna keep an eye on this thread to see which system i should get my nephew for christmas.....hes 18 and really loves sports games if that makes any difference.

I'm running an 8800 GTX too and it can run just about anything maxed out. The only upgrade I may need in the next year or two is a more powerful cooling fan if I need to overclock it.

Yeah, admittedly I've been out of the high end PC gaming world for a long time, so I'm a bit out of the loop.
I started out as a PC gamer back when computers had cassette tape decks. After 2003 or so I switched mainly to consoles since they just worked - no tinkering with drivers, etc - and playing the game was more important to me than the top end performance you can get out of a PC. Friends of mine are devoted PC gamers, and I'll admit the top end shit is pretty cool, but I'm just not that into it.
Of course as consoles basically become computers themselves they've gotten more buggy and give just as many headaches. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
My Super Nintendo can kick your 360's ass anyday
