Lying on job applications and resumes

Igro, I think we have a lot in common and would make good friends in real life.

You know another thing I notice about a bad economy. Anyone that belongs to a union that has a contract that is up for negotiations is probably going to get fucked too. Of course the unions use a good economy in their favor too so it is all fair.

Getting older is like eating the apple from the tree of life.

Probably :friends:

I also have the added pleasure of being further scrutinized by some loser in a hand-me-down auditors job at the state level. In my profession state licensing is a requirement and we had our equivalent of 9/11 take place last year and they're checking everyone 2 and 3 times.....:wallbash:

Why not put something on the resume like: will discuss in person... then u can lie in person, not on paper. 5 years later, or 20.... "wtf are you talking about, i never said i went to harvard, you were drunk that day, my degree is from the local community college"

or something like that, whatever fits ur lie...

Come down bro we are not at a job forum if you want that don't get on ICmag I'm still a little high and I smoked last night any suggestions?

I know where not on a job forum but following the god damn rules. Just cause this is a weed forum doesnt mean you get to be a moron and post something so damn useless...

"I know how you feel, But im too high to say anything else right now."

Maybe your unaware but if everyone was as big a tool as this guy this forum would be shit so what if i dont point it out in a nice way. I am sick of coming to the tokers den and having to sift through garbage to read a thread. Yes i am aware my post could be considered garbage as well.

I lied when I had to try to get a job. Some people really have to lie if they want/need the job. I'm a convicted felon and have had HUGE gaps in my employment. Who'd want to hire someone like that?

Way i see it is employers have no problem lying to their employees when it suits their needs so there aint nothing wrong with bending the truth a little.

gotta lie. do whatever it takes to get the job, just make sure you are sure you can preform when hired or else your bullshit will proably be pretty transparet

very well said. confidence is a must in upselling yourself. remember, it's a 2 way interview. when they sense that, they place higher value on you.

I've had to lie to get a job in the past, so I did; and got the job. screw it, I wasnt missing out on that kinda pay increase over some petty nonsense from the past. By the way, working for an asshole is a lose lose, because it sucks while you're there, and then when you walk out without notice you dont have a reference.

I gave one friend the run down on what to say and my card cell i never use, as a past employer and another friend the same run down. Its harder than telling the truth, because it can blow up in your face, but if you have to you have to. as long as you're qualified, take care of #1

I have to strongly agree with these 2 post if you know you can do the job then lie get your ass a job if you need it fuck it most high end people got where they got by lying. If it helps bust it get what you need there is no one that give honest people much of a chance these day. Just don't forget what you lie about and hold to your story make 2 copys of your app one for you for info and one for the business you apply for. peace:thanks:

Lying generally doesn't work. Well, maybe sometimes...Arright, it depends on the situation. :)
Marketing yourself correctly usually works though, which almost always involves bending the truth, if not lying :D
..but really, how far will resting on those laurels get you...pffff...it's just icing on the cake, if you have no substance you can't rely on this stuff completely!

The professional lingo is "embellishing your resume" or "tailoring" it the job you are applying for.

When employers do background checks does anyone know if evictions from prior residence show up, and if they do, do they give reason for eviction?

Well theres some things you should leave out like if your last employer was a complete dick and you quit with no 2 week notice because he was a dick.

Curious about what you all do when going through the pre-employment hurdles. Specifically, do you lie about previous terminations? have relatives and friends posing as "professional" references? Cover up periods of no work with bogus start and stop dates of previous employers?
Not if I'm interested in being happy in what I do in life, no.

Dumbest thing you can do is lie about anything, unless your life is on the line. 2% of the time, being completely honest sucks donkey balls and is horrible. I'll gladly be honest in that 2% because I know how bitchin the other 98% can be.... when you're honest ALL the time.

Life doesn't really start until you get that.

I'm always honest, never needed to lie. Sometimes I'll apply for a job out of my range ("5+ years experience required") but I've never had to lie to get a job. I'm not saying I wouldn't if pressed...

Indians applying for tech jobs lie all the time. I interview of lot of them. They will put any language/technology that they've ever heard of on an app. They are usually 3+ pages of exaggerations and outright lies. I find one thing I know, asking them something about it, and if they can't answer it the conversation is over.
