I'd only top a strain in vert if i knew it was much stretchier than the others. A few inches height difference wont matter but a couple of foot will bug you, even if they are much bigger it wont be a problem as there's no reflector to grow into it just means the top gets less light.
Otherwise topping isn't really necessary as you control the height of the plant with the height of the bulb to quite a large extent.
I've got an untopped SSH that's almost a foot higher than the other plants in my room but i'll just bend the top a little if it stretches too much. Nothing to worr about with the strains you're growing i don't think.

backintheriver, everything SuperConductor said is right on so I would only add this...if you're going to top then make sure and give them some time to start growing again before u flower them. And also, some strains have a negative effect (on yield) when topped so u might want to do a search to see if the varieties u have are ok to top.

Good Luck,

alright thank you. the way i see it if i top it short a plant with 2 main stems that is 18 inches tall is alot bigger plant than one with one main stem.

yes, top your plants. doing side by side's comparisons, i proved that topping yields more. just cut the most top growing shoot off and wait a week, then flower.
