The relay timer is worth it if your going aero for optimum wetdry times. Once established root mass I'm sure you'll have no problems I agree but it's the young ones I also would worry about. The aero sounds great and is quite easy to setup some PVC n sprayers done deal. I run aero tubes with excellent results also happen to be a fan of perpetual so I'd say get another table with same lid n run aero for veg then over to ebb n flo to flower :)
But that's just what I'd do

:lurk:

dollar store knee pads work excellent for plant supports. no need for neoprene inserts.

f&d is good, but would run 1/2"-1" of water 24/7... cascading thru... in & out... the 100% humidity will feed the roots. & they will grow down & become mat in 1/2" layer of solution - that is constantly flowing for max aeration, w/ out need for air diffusers...

nice...;)

enjoy your garden!

Hey all,

Finally got this rolling. Cuts rooted and where healthy but then they were left in the flat for a while (laziness)...so they look a little rough.

But they are on their way back to full health.

I've been following the instructions that came with the lid...flooding for 30 minutes every 1.5 hrs (90min). Looks to be working because the roots are looking great.

Unfortunately the room has been like 85-90F...no place to vent and I dont want to cut holes, ect for this little tester project.

Hopefully I'll have 36 nice colas here in 8-9 weeks or so.
:woohoo:

It's great to see this rolling along!
I'm curious to see when you decide to flip them...

Keep it up, and no laziness allowed! lol
Peace out Cheeb

Are you using bio-plugs as the medium until the roots poke out? I would think that rockwool would hold too much moisture with your flood frequency until the roots get hold.

Looks really good. I am actually looking at this system myself.

Thanks all for the replies and support.

The clones were rooted in Root Riot plugs.

Awesome, I was wanting to know about mediumless Flood and Drain here a good while back but got bumpkiss. When I get an extra minute I'm going to read this and prolly pick your brain lol.

Hey all,

sorry for the lack of updates...havnt had the time/camera lately.

These ladies are now about half way into bloom..stretched way more then I anticipated, but the system definately works beautifully. Its been a complete hands off tent.

Gotta grab another cam, but will get some pics up here shortly..

I agree. I would get a mister through the veg. Then do the short cycle timer in flower. The veg is a crucial time for the roots, it going to pave the road the rest of the way. I think it's a great spin on a great system. I am really interested to see how it works out.

Hey,

Got some shots finally. These are about 3/4 through bloom I'd guestimate.

Nothing really to say, but I'm looking forward to doing another run with nice cuts, flipped immediately.

This run - due to having to veg out of a flowering clone..led to a stretched out garden with no room to hang the light high enough. I'm getting serious light bleaching and the corners are shaded in the tent.

The system has worked flawlessly. Couldnt ask for a simplier hassle free method.

cheeb, can you give us a rundown on how you ended up running this? ebbnflo or continuous flow? flood frequency? all that good info for us to absorb.

Hey,

these ladies were rooted in root riot plugs from plants a few weeks into bloom.
Because of this I gave them a little veg time before flipping to 12/12 as were in that funky mutated growth stage while trying revert to veg. This resulted in an overveg.

The water cycle was plain ol' ebb and flow - no additional misters, medium, stuff, ect.
They get flooded for 30min every 90min..thats a half hour every hour and a half. They've been flooded this way since they've been put into the system. This is the schedule American Hydroponics (makers of the growell lid) recommended - so I stuck w/ that.

Sure I guess they may benefit from putting them on a more specifc flood duration and I may play with that more later, but for now why fix what aint broke. A $10 mechanical timer and a simple pump is doing the trick just fine.

This is nice clone / timing game here. I predict future runs with nice ready to go clones flipped immediately will fill this tent up perfectly. I will also prune more vigoriously next round to ensure 36 single tops...just tops!

I'm happy with this experiement thus far. I dont ever check pH and simply rely on my trusty bluelab truncheon to let me know if they are feeding too heavy. I havnt changed my reservoir since 12/12. I just mixed up a reservoir of lucas 8/16..and I let em drink on it.. when it gets low I dump a bucket of RO water in and let em drink that for a few days...then I'll addback a little lucas to bring me back up to 1.6-2.0 EC.

I'll be sure to toss some near harvest shots up as they come..
any questions, comments, suggestions are welcome.

peace
Cheeb
