Hello icmer's! Need help with a electrical setup. Im using 4 600w hps ballasts, 2 ventilating fans, 1 intake fan, and 1 fan to cool bulbs, And maybe a couple more fans or other things. This will be done in 2 grow tents in 1 room, side by side, So two tents total. 1 tent will run 2 600's for 12/12, and when that tents off the other one turns on with 2 600's for 12/12. this will all be done in the same room. The room has three outlets. Can i run a set of 600's on a timer on one outlet and the other set of 600's on another outlet and fans and such on the third outlet?? If not what do i need to do? THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR ANY HELP!!!!

Get yourself a flip box. They sell them as "flip box" now at hydro stores. They're about $150+. If you're hydro store doesn't stock them, try to find them on line. If you can't find the one I'm talking about... maybe try going to nowirenut.ca and have a flip box custom built. It's still reasonably price either way.

You can do the time thing, but I wouldn't recommend. If you're timers get off by a little then your breaker is over loaded.

All three outlets could be on the same circuit.I assume you will be running them 120volts, 2 600s @120 volt draw about 11 amps, leaving 4-5 amps for fans and pumps if it is only 1 -20 amp circuit. Most houses 20 years or younger will have 15 amp lighting circuit and 20 amp outlet circuit(I could be wrong I'm guessing).

You could save a few bucks on ballasts by doing a flip flop .It requires a couple dpdt solenoids and basic electrical knowldge. Some ballasts dont like to flip with out shutting down so do yer homework before you decide

Thanks guys for the responses. Im not trying to flip flop 2 ballasts with 4 lights. I have 4 600w ballasts. Ill find out if the room is on the same breaker.

You really need a sub panel, or at least tap into a 30A dryer outlet. How far away is the dryer from your room...can you drill a hole through a wall and run a line to it?

Don't be cheap when it comes to electricity or you'll get burned.

It should be fine as long as no more than 2 ballasts are running at the same time...Just make sure the first 2 shut off before the 2nd set turns on and you're good.
If you were trying to run all 4 lights on the same time schedule, you would need an additional 15 or 20 amp circuit. :tree:
