Ok i didnt intend to bring this up on the boards as its an embarassment. ANyways it all started
exactly 2 weeks ago on a monday, my birthday to be the following day, i started off the evening with a bottle of Johnny Walker Red (was on sale for 15USD :headbange) well i drank that pretty quick and on to the cheap vodka for god knows how long.

woke up bright and early to a major snowstorm and a hangover, took a couple hits of weed but it just wasnt cuttin' it. EVery good alchy here knows best way to cure the headache and the runs (well not so much the runs :D) is get a good hair of the dog.. walked into the kitchen and poured up a double shot of the cheapest nastiest vodka money can buy - and bam! off to a good birthday - or so i thought.

after a couple more hits and a few more shots (10am!) i was off to get some tacos! yeah.. spent the rest the day relaxing and consuming booze, grabbed some sushi, tittie bar was closed :badday: so off to shoot some pool with some bro's of mine.. thats the last thing i remember.

next thing i remember was being naked and handcuffed to a hospital bed. was taken to detox for 12 hours then to county jail.

apparently what happened was this - after the night was winding down, my very drunk and very blacked out ass decided to tryin walk home through a blizzard and below zero temperatures. musta tripped and fell/passed out cuz they found me unconscious in a snow drift. THank god some oned saw me there and called the police/ambulance.
paramedics came to rescue and i guess when they tried to get me to safety i swung on one of so i was apprehended by the police (i still have serious shoulder pain from this)

Alright so now i just gotta bill from the hospital for over 3 thousand dollars.I'm going down the Summary of Charges and listed on there is a CT Head Scan for 1,800 dollars!
why in the fuck! why does a drunk guy get a ct head scan! i was drunk not a cancer patient! jesus. anyways i thank my lucky stars i'm alive and well and much love to the passer-byer who spotted my near lifeless body in a snow bank.

Lesson from all this. I need to really consider my use of alcohol, in the past few years its brought me alotta trouble. and boy let me tell you my lawyer is not pleased with me either, now i have an assault charge pending just before i head into trial in february.

I use to have stories similar to that. The majority of my problems and all my legal troubles in my life stemmed from alcohol abuse, because I would make dumbass decisions while drinking. I've used up my 9 lives twice already because of it.

Now a couple beers and a lot of weed does me just right. IMO nothing good ever comes out of getting shitfaced so I don't do it anymore. Thankfully, I naturally lost my desire to be like that and it wasn't hard to stop. Plus, I have a good support network.

I love booze. I hate being shitfaced drunk. It's all about moderation and catching a nice buzz that doesn't fuck your life up in the process.

If you are pounding through a couple of fifth's in a day you probably having a drinking problem. Alcoholic? Only you can answer that. I'll say this though. Your lucky you woke up in jail. One of these days you won't wake up at all.

Time for some soul searching, maybe? Don't mean to preach. :2cents:

No its true, and in the process of typing this out its kinda helped me actually SEE whats going on. i need to make some changes and not just temporary ones - i havent had a drink in bout two weeks now, just been doin alotta smokin and thinking. definitely a real eye opener..
and its kinda ridiculous to bring up, but im still pretty pissed they gave me an mri/ctscan..
i just dont see what they could have gained out of that other than tacking another couple g's to the medical bill.

Congratulations on not freezing to death.

Once when I was younger I was in the hospital waiting room, about to get my ribs x-rayed, and the nurse came over, called my first name, and brought me back to radiology, where I was given a ct scan instead of the x-ray.

There was another kid with the same name in the waiting room that just didn't pipe up in time, I don't remember if we were charged for it or not though...

You're pissed to be alive? Drunks fall down and hit their heads all the time. It's what they do. Checking for damage from same is the only reasonable option the hospital can take.

Pete Conrad, the 3rd human to walk on the moon, took a little tumble on his motorcycle one day and, manly man that he was, refused help. Next day he was dead. 30 minutes in a hospital, a couple of quick scans, Pete would still be riding his bike today.

sorry to hear that man, I know you we're having troubles already :-/

hope things settle, I would be pissed too about the 3000$, but what can you do.. maybe you can argue it out..?
wouldn't you have to agree for it ? but after freezerboy's post, it seems to make sense that they would have to do a scan..

booze can do that to me too, I could drink everyday..
(the more you drink the more you like it)

and fuck does it ever change me, from quiet guy, to crazy guy that wants to have a lot of fun

but then there's the morning-afters, the headaches, the dryed colon.. lol
I hate that shit, but fuck, I love a nice beer

I understand you are pissed off at the bill and the scan. But, they found you passed out in a snow bank wasted out of your mind. They did their job. They were protecting you from yourself. Your anger should be directed at yourself and the drinking problem.

$3,000 is nothing brother. Keep this up and you'll be racking up a lot more than that. Firsthand experience bro. Focus your anger into energy to change your life. Don't blame others for the choices you make. That $3,000 bill belongs to you. It's a consequence of a choice you made, not the paramedics and the doctors. They were only reacting to your choice.

Again, :2cents:

next thing i remember was being naked and handcuffed to a hospital bed. was taken to detox for 12 hours then to county jail.

I hate these stories, they remind me of "the worst day of my life". Me, I still don't know what happened. Beer tasting festival one minute, next minute naked handcuffed to a bed sharing a room with a drunk homeless man. Once released the woman picked me up solely to break up with me, found out she ran my car into the curb and trashed the rim and the allignment. I eventually got the hospital bill for $2.5k, which my insurance company bargained down to $1.5k. I have a vague recollection of a nurse upon release telling me that I was lucky to not be in jail and that the police took mercy on me... Which would be the only good experience I've ever had with cops and of course I don't remember.

I don't drink outside of my own house anymore. I still want to know what happened.

Alcohol is a horrible drug man... I know from first hand experience.

Stay clear of it, it can become a problem quickly.

or a bill from the funeral director looking for your family.

Alcohol is poison, no two ways about it. I hope you heed the warning that was given to you and be glad you're gettin a second chance.:2cents: and blessings. :xmastree:

Thanks for all the positive words everyone, too be honest a few minutes after i posted this, i re read it and kinda expected some hate - due to alcohol consumption and me sounding like an ungrateful ass.

and Yeah to be honest the more i evaluate the situation 3 grand aint shit compared to my life. a relatively cheap life lesson infact.
if i look back at the past 4 times ive been in trouble with the law (excluding last march) it was ALL alcohol related.

Jim Beam Kush - when i got to the hospital my BAC was .496, so believe me i'm no stranger of alcohol.

Sleepy - I'll be sure'n stay clear from now on :biglaugh:
