At any rate the wrong guys birthday is being celebrated. The bible clearly states the messiah will be of the house of David. If the birth is indeed divine and of a virgin, there is no genetic lineage because Joseph is not the father...

Yummy youre Persian? That explains a lot. Knowing this, I have come to 2 conclusions, either you are crazy or you have a great sense of humor(most Persians do). Now I get the whole mom thing, my girl's dad(from Tehran) is a mama's boy too. :joint:

Coexist...I like those bumper stickers, kinda make sense. In recent years I have been calling it Moneymas because that's what seems to drive this holiday...at least in my experience in the last 10 years or so. Sure people gather and spend time with loved ones but even that costs money. Gas or airplane tickets, food for everyone, gifts, someone had to rent or buy the house where the gathering is, power to cook the food and keep everyone warm, its costly to do. I never really get into the "holiday spirit" until the 24th after I get off work at 8pm. I mean we work our asses off to make money this time of year and for what? For one day of gift giving that will be over and done in a 24 hour period? Call me a scrooge, call me what you want but this time of year only means more work for the same pay to me...and dealing with people when they are at their worst. I hate Corporate Christmas. :joint:

I wish people would actually understand that which they purport to believe in.
Joshua (Jesus), was born on August 21, 7 B.C.
The beautiful legend of the star of Bethlehem originated in this way: Jesus was born August 21 at noon, 7 B.C. On May 29, 7 B.C., there occurred an extraordinary conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in the constellation of Pisces. And it is a remarkable astronomic fact that similar conjunctions occurred on September 29 and December 5 of the same year. Upon the basis of these extraordinary but wholly natural events the well-meaning zealots of the succeeding generation constructed the appealing legend of the star of Bethlehem and the adoring Magi led thereby to the manger, where they beheld and worshiped the newborn babe.

Talk about twisting and turning facts around.
Saturnalia: The Reason We Celebrate Christmas in December
It was an occasion for celebration, visits to friends, and the presentation of gifts, particularly wax candles, perhaps to signify the returning light after the solstice. Homes were decorated with greenery. Candles and lamps chased away the spirits of darkness.

If you live in an area that is predominately Christian, then you should expect Christian Holidays will take place. You are welcome to participate, but you cannot ask for changes. If we went to your area, would we expect you to change the name of your special events for us?

When in ROME, do as the Romans do ?

if it was not created by Seinfeld, I might think about following Festivus

there is something overly lame about following what sit-coms tell you to do

I believe jews should be able to tell christians happy hannukkah and christians should be able to tell jews merry christmas.
- its bout acknowledging a person and greeting them. anyone who takes it as an insult is an asshole looking for a fight.

If a muslim told me happy Ramadan, it wouldn't insult me. I would just think the person was greeting me like have a nice day or happy birthday or whatever. Theyre having a holiday - so what? should I be pissed because Im not?

People are insane; especially the ones who are so committed to political correctness. What are we supposed to do? - just go around in fear of insulting people all the time? People are already too afraid to help people in need now a days for fear of being ripped off or sued.
Now lets take it one step further and make people too afraid to talk to each other.

Born is the king of Israel.

Merry Christmas friends. It is not acceptable to try and take a holiday from anybody. I have never heard of Christmas celebrating christians trying to take away anyone elses holiday. This political correctness shit is just a passive form of intollerance. I will continue to fly my star on the top of my tree and say Merry Christmas to passers by. Should anyone tell me they don't celebrate Christmas, I'll ask them what they do celebrate and wish them a happy one. It's that simple....whatever holiday people have this time of year is about giving and sharing, so we're not all that different.

^^Dude up there....that is exactly what being a loving and tolerant person is all about. Tolerance is not something that we have to grit our teeth to get through....it should be as easy as shaking someone's hand. Takes nothing away from anyone to be tolerant.

i say Happy Holidays because i don't want to assume that everyone celebrates Xmas.

i picked up this habit from working in the business world. i quickly learned not everyone celebrates at this time of year the same way.

Saturnalia: The Reason We Celebrate Christmas in December
Christians in the 4th Century assigned December 25th as Christ's birthday (and hence Christmas) because pagans already observed this day as a holiday. In this way the problem of eliminating an already popular holiday would be sidestepped, thus making the Christianizing of the population easier. It is almost certain that the actual birthday of Christ was not in midwinter, since the gospels speak of shepherds tending their flocks, not something done in the cold in central Judea.

Nevertheless, the holiday, first called the Feast of the Nativity, the spread to Egypt by 432 and to England by the end of the sixth century. By the end of the eighth century, the celebration of Christmas had spread all the way to Scandinavia. Christmas customs of gift giving, of decorating of greenery, and of feasting can be traced back to Roman practices during Saturnalia.

"It is not acceptable to try and take a holiday from anybody"

When will Christians appologise for taking anothers Holiday and converting it in to a recruitment tool?

(Joshua ben Joseph was born on August 21, 7 B.C.)

Funny how they even changed the guys name !
