Why do we love Cali so much?

Spent a lot of time when I was younger in Santa Cruz and Danville/East Bay.
SoCal is nice too I guess. Newport beach when I was a kid was everyone on roller blades and I strongly remember the sun glistening off the waves every day. Sunny Deeigo always smelled of eucalyptus to me.
It's definitely a wonderful state, in its natural form.
There are douchebags EVERYWHERE... That is not a reason to not like a place.

That said I have not been to California in almost a decade and the people I know who are still there say it is very much different with the Governator and all the push for "Green" in any form. I'm sure if I flew out there today and stepped off a plane the air would still smell the same and the sun would still have that warm, soul-penetrating feel.

Good...we already have too many of the spineless here!!
(Psst...Just playin' with your name--):eggnog:

Yep, and I'm just playing with that guy's premise about two kinds of people. It's all good, clean fun.

Everybody have some pie!:pie::pie::pie:

I remember sitting on my jet ski fishing(I'm ghetto like that) watching a sea lion play...overlooking the houses of the rich and famous in La Jolla, and it was weird...usually when I see shit like that I think "some day...." but when I'm in socal I don't even think that. "some day" is now, and it's usually perfect...

la jolla, materialistic as the people might be, is an amazing place. I'm a recluse so I couldn't give two shits if the people suck, the beauty of the area inspires me to live...

Did you know that most denizens of any other US state will never knw what the fuck an avacado tastes like?
We have them on the grocery store shelves year round here, half the year they are from California/Mexico(Florida too, but those are huge with no flavor), the other half they are from Peru.

In-in-out is also another Cali exclusive I could not live without, so fucking tasty.
Got those here........

MMM Round Table Pizza. :xmastree:
Got those too................

I was born there, but live there no longer. I love California from the Sonoma county and north, but have no use for the urbanized areas. It makes me cringe every time I see how built up the wine country gets every year. I stopped visiting the bay area about 7 years ago cuz I couldn't stand to see the oak strewn, golden grassed hills getting covered with godawful sub-divisions.

The Eagles said it best in their song "The last resort", "You call some place paradise, kiss it goodbye".

There are still great places to live in California though...........

Yeah and for the avacados, I could eat one with every meal and even between. Love them. I like so cut them in half, sprinkle some salt and tobasco sauce on them and eat them with a spoon out of the shell. Somebody check my brain.

Don't forget a couple drops from a freshly sliced lime... ;-)

I also love some nice buttery Avocado!

Only been there for 10 days and can say that it is the most natural feeling i have ever felt. It is awesome to wake up walk down the street to Juanitas get a california burrito get blazed at stone steps then check out the waves. Wish i could live those 10 days for the rest of my life.

California love: Usal beach on the Lost coast, Whale Watch in Jenner, hang gliding at Fort Funstin (sp?), being on Mt. Diablo in any weather, old time candy from the candy store in Columbia, (pan for some gold while your there), Heading out from the 5 across the Los Padres forest and having the coast spectacularly appear in Big Sur, Grovers Hot Springs (heaven on earth), having lunch at that little place under the Carquinez bridge and then hiking amoung the amazing oaks on MT. Wanda, eating for free at Todai on my b-day, mountain biking China Camp on a sunny day, knowing that my favorite taco truck will be in the same place tomorrow, 70 degrees on christmas day.................having my doctors rec. mean something to the authorities.

California downers: 2 hours to and from work on a good day, my old house losing half its value in a years time, all of the wonderful friends that I dont get to see near as often since I moved away.

I lived two streets behind Juanita's and two streets infront of Stone Steps...My favorite place on earth...To bad it is in San Diego...Maybe when Dumanis is gone I will move back down there...

I LOVE CALIFORNIA! North South Central... Just as long as it is near the coast or in the snowy mountains...NO DESERT FOR ME!
