Again I am excited to switch this room up to coco in just 8 more days using a 4x4 tray with a 600w lumatek digi and then when that is full putting a 1000w nextgen digi over another 4x4 tray. I will be using coco with canna coco a+b nutes and running blue dream almost exclusively with both trays.

Thanks for watching!

Looking good!

Hey Ralph, I've not checked in for a while, everything is looking great!

Are you thinking of going 60-65 days? Have you started flushing?

Can't wait to see the final yield on this system!

have both of the bulbs been used the same number of hours? are they same brand etc.? pretty noticeable white spot over every pic of the digi ballast.. pretty interesting for sure.

Thanks for the compliments Standaman, I am going to be checking trichomes over the next week but am going to pull them on day 63 probably unless 20/80 amber / cloudy comes first.

Thanks DarkLance, no worries things are just getting interesting :D

I am shooting for right around 63 days. About a week ago the ppms hit a high of 1700 since then only 100 ppm ro/filtered has been added and the ppms are now at around 1000ppm.

I am excited as well to see how this system performed; I am more excited to compare these results to my next flower run :):tree:

Hey FLoJo, both bulbs are brand new generics both costing ~$50.

The white spot is a reflection of the 600w light, and is more noticeable on the digital side because of the increased height of that side. If you look at post number 91, I took a shot at the same altitude and the mag side shows the same white reflection as the digi does on most of my update pics.

The magnetic ballast is between 4 and 5 years old, and the digital ballast is on it's first run. This is what I believe to be the biggest difference between the two growth rates.

Hi Rapael, nice grow and very nice set up. I have a quick question and you look like a guy who would know. Would a light mover help your grow, and if yes whats the reason that most people don't seem to use them? I haven't done a grow big enough to require one (in a mills pride cabinet) but I have read the advertising and it seems like it sounds good. Just wondering your thoughts, very nice grow though.

Hi Richard Gozinya! A light mover using one 600 would probably have yielded close to the same, but I am too lazy to build one and it complicates ventilation and it's one more moving part to break. Thanks for the good vibes man, cheers :xmasnut:
I see nothin when I click the link
Sorry man, I don't know what happened, I was a little drunk and don't even remember posting that...

Anyways, I chopped the girls last night after seeing at least 10-15% amber and also discovered that about 95% of the buds had powdery mildew spores all up in there. So, I have sent all but a few head stash nugs to the freezer in preparation for a Sprung Bag run. It is very disappointing to look under a microscope and see just as many pm spores as trichomes!

I took a wet weight of the four plants under the digi and the four plants under the magnetic, and it came to be 4lbs 15oz under the digi and 3lbs 12oz under the magnetic. What is funny, is that the digi bulb blew out the scheduled date of harvest, 12/15. What's not cool is that it was a brand new generic bulb >.>

The root mass was pretty much equal between the digi and the magnetic.

Some Blue Dream in coco, little PM visible

There isn't really an intake to this room, but it has a 6" exhaust. I think that was a big problem with the PM propagating. Cutting a hole for a 4" can fan in the door, should help things for this next coco run.

Anyways, to sum it up this 600w digital ballast yielded 4oz (23%) more than the magnetic ballast.

Thanks for following me on this journey, next time I hope to have much more herb and less bubble, but who am I to complain about bubble? :D :tree:

:thanks: Cheers

Hey love the journey, but you have to come back with final numbers on the grow and a smoke report!

What is the next project?

Peace, :joint:

Wow Nice, So did you break the 1 gram/Watt. It seems like you should come out with 2 dried lbs for sure at least. Great job. The roots on those ladies are amazing, super healthy. Looking forward to the next project.

Thanks for enjoying the ride! I got 18oz dry from the digi and 14oz dry from the magnetic, about a 23% difference. I got about a .75gpw yield with 18 days veg.

My next project is a 4x4 tray drip to waste using coco under a 600w. Once it's set up I will make another thread and take some pictures.:santa1:

Nope, this run had a lot of room for improvement and am excited to get closer to the 1gpw next run! You were right on the money with that estimate, and I have been high on bubble since throwing those two pounds into the freezer! I'm getting lots of practice :D

I'm looking forward to the next project :xmasnut:

Here is a .gif of a weekly shot for 9 weeks of growth:

I'm going to use digital ballasts for flowering from now on for sure, definitely worth the yield and it happened in front of our eyes!

Cheers

For your next project you should use a Magnum XXXL-8 and a 1Kw or 1.5Kw on overdrive. It is winter and you can cool it. Imagine getting 1g x 1.5Kw ;)

Peace, :joint:

Yea Hopefully the ladies Iam running will get a yield similar. But using 1k watts w/ 12 plants instead of 8. Oh yea I am using a brand new magnetic ballast we will see. 18 days veg from when you put the clones in or after they were well rooted? I have had mine in since the 25th that is 23 days since I put the clones in there. I didn't consider them in veg for the first week since they were establishing roots, did you do the same thing?

Thanks for sharing your grow. You've done well! I like the gif u made! :) :joint:

2 questions...
1.) What type of output drain fitting are you using for each buckets drain? I'm looking for a secure fitting that's about the same size BigToke used.. Think it was 1" 1/4 but cant find anything... I just want something more secure than the original design.

2.) Can you explain the inside of that drain and what mods you did to it? I see a screen over it..

Thanks! :joint: and keep up the fantastic job!

Sadly I will have to only be able to use my imagination for at least 8 more months...I'm moving and am going to have at least a 10x10 for flowering, so I am planning on making very efficient use of space. That being said, a Magnum xxxl-8 with a 1.5k x 4 in a 10x10 sounds quite delicious lol

18 days after I transplanted the well rooted (in 1.5" rockwool) clones into the buckets I flipped them to flower. I think that answered your question, this bubble is:xmasnut:

I love the questions! I opened up the trash bags full of my buckets so I could take pictures for you :D

All the drain is is a male to female threaded pvc 1.25" in diameter. I bought some rubber and cut a "hole" in it and stuck the threads through it, then through the bucket, then screwed the female threads on after applying plumbing tape. The "shoulders" of the male were broad enough to hold the rubber to the bucket. God, maybe now you can see better why I took pictures, lol:xmasnut:

Thanks for the response and questions! I'm glad to answer them as best I can and am sure others will be so kind to contribute as well :D

Cheers

Nice job Raph, sucks about the PM but sounds like you made the best of it and will be plenty high. Sweet rootshots, sorry to hear the buckets won't be in the next round but looking forward to it anyway.

Raphael,
Thanks dude for the pics! They speak a million words! :joint: k++ to ya!

Ran to the HD, picked up what I could find. Looked all over for some foam/rubber stuff.. could not find it.. I gotta look more or try another hardware store.

I'll prolly try and put a mock bucket together tonight or tomorrow. :joint:

This will actually be my 2nd BB run, the first was the initial run in the room, this will be the next run where all the probs I found in the first run should be fixed/addressed in this run. BTW, I run 3 magnum xxxl's 6" in my room.. Holy hell do I lov em! :joint:

Thanks again!! :smoweed:

Ya it was a big bummer for sure but it was a mad expensive lesson that I am glad to have learned when it only cost me a couple grand worth of work haha:tree:good thing I love it! I just don't have the wattage to pull off the kind of trees that the buckets wanted to give me... I think the .5gal 5.5" pots with coco at 25 a 4x4 tray shooting for 1gpw maybe I'll take pics and make the new thread tonight  :eggnog: I'm looking forward to it as well thanks for accompanying me on this journey!

No problem my man I am very happy you found them useful! I found the rubber at OSH if there are any of those around ya they sell them in 1x2ft sheets I believe for $10 or so.

I have only one magnum xxxl 6" and a 400w inside it and it is lighting my whole 4x8 veg table! I love that hood haha. Good luck on your grow link the diary here if ya would.

Cheers :eggnog:Making green dragon w/ 151 everclear tonight with 5 grams of bubble hash with 4oz of 151 boiled down to 2oz after a 325F 5min prebake.
