i have read a little on green lights in the grow room being safe to use for night vision essential works with flowering plants in the room .:elf: is this true ? what sort of green ?
can you use green led's ? or is it a load of old bollocks ?

:thanks:

Green light does not affect plants bloom cycle.

Use a green party light bulb. The curly bulbs are the best. Get one at Wally World.

This allows you to work in the flower room during lights out.

Merry Christmas.

My friend has a bulb that looks green, but might not be the right kind because we've noticed it has delayed flowering quite bit, presumably from him working in there 'at night'? His bulb looks like a T5 in shape, it's 4' long and pretty bright. Maybe there are ones that are just tinted, and not 'green' from the phosphors used? Do you know what's going on there LolaGal?

Watch out though, a lot of the cheapy 'party bulbs' will have a ring right at the base that allows normal light through. I would think led's or the 'curly' cfl's would prob be the best route but haven't tried personally.

I've got a green cfl and have not had to go into the bloom room at lights out yet. I've seen those green fluro's at various hydro websites, so there must be something to it.

:elf: i have seen a really cool ' special ops' ear thingy with green led . being as its cimbos it would be a great prezzie from me as it would also reflect my other obsession COD :eggnog:

but seriously i kinda go with eating more carrots as i generally dont mess about at night but we all know what its like when things sometimes get a little FU and you have to get in there .

I use one of the green LED headbands (looks like a miners light) and it is AWESOME, handsfree and it shines where i look. Nice when you have both arms in the res up to your elbows swapping out a burnt water pump in a dark period.

That said, when I'm in veg I just flip the overhead shop lights on, I don't give a shit about veg photoperiod one bit.

what if your plant has purple tendencies? would you need green & purple lights?? this kinda stuff is plausible, says physics & whatnot, but I am very weary of trying it myself. I have a entirely dark green party light. I have a blue one of the same caliber & cannot tell the difference between either bulb when they were lit, nobody could. They were in those paper ball hangy shades you can essentially see through. my point is, i would not trust my babies with a $2 party light. I would have to find specific green Nm for the situation. I do not even know what that number is, I am sure Google does though.

the way i see it, if your plants go hermi on you after checking on them in the dark with a green light every week or so then you need to find a more stable strain without those hermi tendancies.

:eggnog: i normally avoid going into the grow room when lights are off and we're in bloom , veg i dont give a monkeys ..
for me its not about checking as the system is extremely reliable but on those occasions where you have no choice . I would be very wary of regularly switching on any light green or not when they should be in darkness .
i have just had a crop go ' long ' as i added a remote cut off switch which had a red light on although it wasn't directly in the room . i now wear the ' i am a twat ' hat as this is the most basic of mistakes that i didn't check DOH !!!

Study of the "Martian Method" suggests that only blue spectrums are responsible for determining the plants hormonal photo-period. I think this means red LED also does not trigger response. Maybe someone who knows the "Martian Method" well can explain this, or debunk it.
