Fulvic and humic acids- when to use?

Hello all, I was given samples of both fulvic and humic acids by my local purveyor of grow goodies, and I was wondering, when's the time to start using them? Do they benefit more/less/the same in early veg/late veg/early flowering/late flowering, what not? Thanks all!

I've been using Fulvic acid for over 15 years on the farm and always on this crop. Fulvic helps move nutes around in the plant. On this crop, I use it weekly as a light foliar spray with some lite nutes and I also mix it with my EWC Tea which I use weekly in the soil. I would use it up to just a few weeks before cutting. Can't see it doing much good the last week or so. More is not better. I stopped using Humic altogether. I have some pre-mixed in my soil and that seems to be enough. After almost 2 decades of experience using both products, Fulvic is the ticket IMO.

IMO Fulvic is better then Humic.

you can go on ebay and get a lb. of 70% Fulvic Acid and mix your own solution $19... they have humic acid, kelp, and myco beasties also... It's alot cheaper and goes farther when you mix your own

I use humboldt humic and fulvic (hum-bolt, flavorful), and I use it every watering except the last two weeks of flowering.

I'm using Liquid Karma for the first time (playing it by ear) and thus far am seeing amazing results. I began feeding it in low dose (1/2 tsp per gallon), every watering to some very stressed, multi-symptomatic plants on day 31 veg. Today (day 37) they all look amazing and are exploding with growth. This may not be the conventional application for all I know, but so far it has yielded very positive results in my limited observation.

Madd Farmer's for this crop. The bulk product for the farm I don't think has a brand name.

I am open to any suggestions from users of Fulvic as to a "brand" name that they think is better then Madd Farmers brand fulvic acid

can someone vouch for their fulvic acid, what i have now is GH diamond nectar but it's made using potassium hydroxide and phosphoric acid so i want something less chemical, if your fulvic acid is biologically processed and you have had good results let me know, if it's got any K and P ratio it's probably more chemical crud i don't want

im interested in this, dont use it atm - i already use citric acid to bring my 8+ pH water down and was thinking of using fulvic instead.

any pointers on dosage etc would be good. im in UK so the brands would be different here.

They are the same acids with just different names, and I get mine from very aged HUMUS....that means compost that actually composted!

It's good stuff and I don't bother with sales gimmicks that don't educate the buyer exactly what they are purchasing. VERY MATURE compost naturally produces this acid, so humus is where it is at and up to you where to find humus...FOR FREE!

I like to find well aged trees, sometimes they turn canoe and just build this humus inside it's rotten belly...or spit it out and build it up next to itself...on the ground, I find GALLONS of this stuff for free and I CAN'T BUY IT ANYWHERE!

Some companies call compost what I call shit that hasn't even begun to rot! The fact is that companies move product faster than nature can rot, it takes a good ten years to build a nice humus. Maybe five with a compost pile, but that shit doesn't move fast..even with heat build up and even with micro bacteria......the only thing that breaks it down quickly is fungus and that usually depletes the pile of good things..or adds funky fungus which turns to dust and blows away!


Find good natural sources of humus, unless you have hydro organic or really into the folair feeding which never got me turned on!

I use bioAg fulvic, tera vita humic, but I don't seem to drift toward humic as much as fulvic is the fraction of humic that is "soluble" at any PH .. and I just use my gut to use humic every now and then , but use fulvic every week...

yes this is from bioag on humic and fulvics . I had alot more pages on humics but decided the bookmarks needed cleaning up..

i get my humic and fulvic acids from both liquid karma and my bottled beneficial microbe inoculant. they contain these two among other goodies but i dont use these much.
i think my recycled soil, fresh compost and EWC most likely supply humic and fulvic acids to my media and i have yet to experiment w/ a bottled humic and or fulvic acid.

It's true... doesn't seem to affect the pH, at least not noticeably.

Verdant, what about using a bottled nute every now and then to bring down the PH? I'm sure a .5 ml to 1ml will drop that right in line of 6.7,

also maybe EM-1 would drop it as I know it has a low PH, just thinking what else you can add that's an add-in that would drop the PH while giving you an addition and dropping your PH adjuster

Should we just use humic and fulvic through out the entire grow cycle? I always thought humic in veg/early flower and fulvic in the last few weeks. I came to this conclusion just from looking at different products and when they were to be used on a feed schedule. Not exactly science so i could be very wrong.

I have heard numerous times humic works well in soil application. Fulvic would be a better choice when foliage feeding. But can also be added to the soil and be just as good as humic. Can anyone tell us definitively when we should be using humic acid products? When should we be using fulvic acids products?

I know this is an old thread but didn't want to start a new one figured i could try to revive this one...
