What's new

The RO machine at the supermarket gave me PH < 3 ?

My meters are working fine, there was no PH down in my container, and I got water that < 3 PH from the RO machine at walmart. Isn't that like illegal or something, or unsafe? To sell that as drinking water. What is in it?

The conductivity is like 700 um or ~350ppm, supposed to be near 0. Hmm all I did was rinse it out and go in there and fill it up. I guess its hard for me to do anything about it being in my position. Again I'm 100% sure there was no PH down in there, definitely not enough to drop it that much.

Dude I am sick of this, really paying for water that goes through an advertised three filter method!

I have no idea what makes it acidic other than perhaps that is what your aquifers produce (probably a volcanic region, a mountainous region?).

But complain to the management, that you tested the water...as you are paying for it and it better be as pure H20 as you fucking desire!

It should be a PH of 7 with a PPM of 0, but I will accept a PPM of 10! It appears that the PH was high when I bought some, as well as the distilled water. Fact is, the filters are not changed like they should be. I don't think the carbon scrubber in this is very much and the reverse osmosis membranes need changed....and are not cheap, as that is why you pay money!

Basically they don't know how many people use the machine, they probably have a company that services the machine...or some dumb shit that they don't really keep track of, they think fresh beef is asking a lot!

As long as they don't state max PPM levels etc. of the water they basically can be almost anything...

If I were you I would be an under the sink RO system!

Look on eBay, they cost around $100

RO? At Walmart? I doubt it. More likely a box with hose and brita filter inside.

Probably not unsafe as far as ph, soda ph is 3.4 or something... Find a new machine or maybe call the service number or something lol

While I was there I actually stole the check card the technical checks off each time he services the machine. Hope he gets fired now. The machine did say it uses an RO filter. Oh well I guess I will suck this 27 cents up to the game, and I will also start testing any water I drink regularly. kind of a scary thought if I'm not overlooking something I did here.

There must be something wrong with the machine, if it says it's ro water then it should be near 0 ppm like you said, do you see any oil or sediment maybe bacteria from the water sitting in the machines tank? I'd go somewhere else rather than have spotty water service.

You're at the mercy of the person responsible for checking the filters at those "RO" machines. I highly doubt stealing the check card is gonna get the tech fired. Did it make the quality of your water better by stealing the card? Like stated before, get yourself a RO unit. You can hook it up many ways...............I use the auto shutoff valve and float switch and have my r/o water stored in a 55 gallon drum.

yeah the water machines blow, I get 5 gallons out of em every morning although the ph is generally around 7

I am pretty sure the PH is supposed to be around 7 on RO water that would be neutral. GIG

Our water comes from a 680' well and due to salt contamination it is being processed through a commercial high volume RO system.
The PPM ranges around 5 and PH is 7.

R U sure your meter is calibrated? They drift over time if not properly cleaned. I clean mine after each use with 3% food grade H2O2
