the moonshine mix isnt organic, fox farms ocean forest isnt organic- prob why plants grow so fast in it.

not tryin to be neg but organics really must be a 100 percent organic to be called so.

Do you have any idea what you are talking about  ? You also made a similar statement on another thread, quote: "theres enough synthetic chem nutes in fox farms ocean forest for 3 -4 weeks." Please enlighten all of us by naming the synthetic ingredients in FFOF and the Moonshine mix.

some people kind of freak out when 1/2 way into flowering they start seeing the fan leaves turn yellow... but that what plants do in the fall...right? ...so i say again don't get scared when the fan leaves turn yellow and start droping abiut 5 -6 weeks into flowering just focus on the buds .... because thats what its all about ....right???
hehehe

THATS where i'm at right now (also this is my FIRST grow) ... except my babies have been in veg for about 4 months now because of a bunch of stunting ... everytime those fan leaves start going yellow and dropping off I usually end up potting up to the next size gallon ... 30 days later it starts happening again ...

its been a rough ride and some of the plants have lost majority of the fan leaves only leaving the top 3 or so on the plant. I'm afraid that when I finally take cuttings they might die because of the lack of fan leaves left ... dunno ... i'm just a beginner venting.

Plan on using the basic 3-soil mix that MSM posted back in 2006.

Going to be scrog-ing anywhere from 4-8 ladies under my new flouro. The user comments from the MSM seem to overshadow any other mix I have read about, and being a new grower I definitely want something easy and fool-proof. Excited to get my women going, in the next month or two there should be some green in my screen.

"Marine Cuisine" has a time release fertilizer in it that the Ocean Forest bagged soil does not have. The ingredients are listed on the bags.

Ocean Forest is listed as Organic in just about every grow product book I have. Where marine cuisine is not listed as organic. You can always sub out the ocean forest for Happy frog and adjust the LW and PM and youve got an even more organic mix.

On foxfarms website in the FAQ they tell you what products has synthetic ferts. Soils are organic marine cuisine is not.

If your that concerned with organics always question where your clones come from? Unless those clones have been cloned in plain water, organic B1 , Honey, Humbolt roots, or some other organic method from seed then your plants arent organic. If at any point in that plants life if it has been cloned with 99% of the cloning methods out there your plant cant be classified as organic.

As a professional consultant in the medical cannabis industry Im disgusted by what I see some vendors and dispensary's are calling organic. Lots of stuff sick people shouldn't be smoking.

fox farms marine mix, heard of it? thats what they put it it, its not organic
Thanks for responding Moonshine*. Fox Farms does manufacture some non-organic products. However, there is nothing synthetic in FFOF, FFHF, FFPM, or FFLW. To quote the Fox Farms web site FAQ, "Our Peace of Mind® and Happy Frog® fertilizers are 100% organic. Our Big Bloom™ Liquid Fertilizer and all of our soils are also organic. We do offer some fertilizers with mineral-based, time-release ingredients that are not classified as organic. These include American Pride® and Marine Cuisine® fertilizers, Tiger Bloom® and Grow Big® liquids, and our soluble products like Cha Ching®, Beastie Bloomz®, and Open Sesame®. "

Overwatering

Overwatering

So it sounds like overwatering/pH is the most common issue with the mix. Does everyone agree with that? I am just trying to pin down everything here

Overwatering was the only issue I had with this mix ...Nitrogen was to high but has since straightend out . Oh yea theres the problem of the plants getting to big LOL if thats a problem. Id swear by this mix... Have fun on your journey

I modified the mix a bit, as per the advice of a trustworthy friend. It now looks like this:

1 bag Ocean Forest
1/2 bag Light Warrior
1/3 bag Planting Mix
1.5 gallons chunky perlite
1/2 cup Peace of Mind Fruit and Flower

can anyone suggest an organic soil that only needs 2-3 aerated tea feedings throughout and just plain water? like MoonshineMix but w/ the individual components - FoxFarm isnt available here so I will have to make this up from "scratch" or what is avail... thinking base of coco, perlite and D.E. rock and adding appropriate guanos, kelp/bone meals, myco fungi and other beasties, coffee grounds, alfalfa meal, worm castings, lime, some compost? and anything else beneficial?... I am done with pouring $ onto my plants. no more mineral nutrients and overpriced additives and things that are avail around the house re-packaged as special crap... $40 bottles of "heavy weight" flower boosters thats really just molasses and "Carbo blasts" that are nuttin but friggin dextrose... Going hydro/aero Id need like 15 products!

I want an all-inclusive organic soil mix I can water plain water say twice a week (automatically from main-line through valve timer) and add a few teas as needed at various strages. It would be sweet to reuse most of it and just replenish some beasties between rounds.. Id shell out the dough for the fox farm based MoonshineMan Mix but its not avail in Canada and/or my area so I need to find the components and reconstitute it myself... might as well be 100% organic and get THE BEST I can... I usually veg for about 2weeks in final container (after clones have rooted or seedlings reach at least 4 sets of leaves) before transplanting but can do a month if necessary as Ive bought larger containers (gooing from 3gal to 5) which I can mount my 1x1ft screens above (and vegging longer will help this fill up better too). I believe MSM if primed for a month veg so that is fine if necessary... Initial "cooling" time is not a prioblem either.

any and all mixes/ingredients please! explain if u can what they are and what they do / why they would be good to add (Im new). i read through this but now cant find the page where one person actually listed the components of the FF bags... a FULL ingredients list of the MSM works (from FF and other bags/boxes) for me too as I can just copy it... thx

If u go on the FF website I bet it lists the individual ingredients in the different bags

Will this mix work for any strain? Or is it too rich for some? Any feedback appreciated

this post is in organics for beginners by sophisto.post 302...what do you think of this mix...It's a amodified MSM mix with a feww amendments and a tea regime???

-1 bag ocean forest
- 1/2 bag eb stone planting compost
-1 bag light warrior
-1 bag planting mix
- Eb Sul po mag 1/2 dose
-1/4 cup dolomite lime just for some extra Cal
-5 gallons big chunky perlite

tea one early veg ( jumpstart for the microbes) -1.5 lbs of bacterial compost

-1.6 ounces of Black strap molasses
-25 grams soluble cold water kelp
-1/2 oz yucca extracts or liquid karma

I Could also add 1-2 tbsp N guano if I need it...

LAte veg early flower:

-1.5 lbs of bacterial fungal compost 1:1 ratio otherwise 1/2 bacterial 1/2 mushroom compost
-1.6 ounces humic acids
- 25 g soluble kelp
- maybe some fruit pulp or molasses ??

I may add 4-8 tbsp of 0-7-0 guano to add a boost mid flower as well, again if the plants need it..

Mid to late mid flower:

-2lbs fungal compost ( mushroom)
-60 ml humic acids
-10 ml yucca extract
-25 grams soluble kelp
-25 grams fish hydrolysate

again I can add some 0-7-0 guano of I need it ......

The basic thought and hope is to create a rich nutrient profile in the soil so that the microbes in the teas will cycle the nutrients so that no additional fertilizers are needed.. Three to four teas during a 12 week cycle max and the rest will be straight water......

Hey, if anyone didnt mention it - (Suby did)Moonshine Mans mix is pretty good organics also!

"So here is the new mix....

All waterings should be PH between 6.3 and 6.7 for best results....

1 bag of Ocean Forest
1 bag of Planting Mix
1 (1.5 cuft) bag of Black Gold organic soil
1/2 cu/ft of Earth worm castings
2 coco Bricks
8 gallons of Perlite
1 cup Peace of Mind Fruit and flower
1 cup Peace of Mind Starter

The plants need NOTHING in Veg......

in flower I feed the First week of Flowering @ day 5-7 and they are fed again at day 21-30........
Feeding #1 mixed in a 5 gallon bucket
1tsp of Fish Mix (from Bio Bizz)
1Tblspn of Mother Earth Organic Tea grow (advanced Nutrients)
1tblspn of Mother Earth Tea Bloom (Advanced Nutrients)
1tblspn of Dr Hornbys Iguana Juice Bloom (Advanced Nutrients)

this is a very light nute bath for the roots......and really jumpstarts the flowering process without messing up the integrity of the soil.....

the 2nd feeding is done around day 30, the closer to the halfway mark the better.....also mixed in a 5 gal bucket
1 Tblspn of Mother Earth Grow
2Tblspn of Mother Earth Bloom
2 Tblspn of Iguana Juice Bloom

and thats it...2 feedings......and Ive seen increased bud sites and much larger yields without compromising the taste and smell......

I found by substituting the Coco fiber, Black gold and Castings , for the Light warrior loosend the soil substantialy and since this mix is a little looser and not as rich it allows nutes to be absorbed better without locking em out or givin the buds the "guano" flavor....."
