hps and fluoros

in flower, what function, other than slowin down stretch does fluoros perform in conjunction with hps?..if you're not concerned about height of the plant,do you really need em?.....been veggin and flowerin with fluoros and just got the hps outfit..dont have a mh and for now cant get one..thanks for yer time..

got 6500 fluoros that i use for veg and a 400 watt hps high output bulb hangin vertically.if i placed the 6500 on the other side of plants, would it be of any benefit?

I've always read that having a hps with Blue Fluro's(CFL) Will give you denser buds.... More weight... It is a fact that both SPECTRUMS in flowering( Blue & RED) is the most optimal solution... They got a high times with a break~down of lighting and using Co2. And it's not just that..... I've read it in a bunch of different places, plus I've grown under straight CFL's, HpS, and both combined... I see a diff.( when using both spectrum's compared to just the red) , but the other day I had a newbie trying to tell me if you flower under CFL's or any fluro it will make your buds airy and like they didn't have enough light... AND THAT IS BULL_SHIT.. You can get the same results from a fluro to an hps... Its just that you'd have to have so many fluros you'd be wasting electricity, not to mention the heat of 8 cfl or more or any high number in a confined space....... I've seen complete grows under fluros and the plants did great and had great yields... I have always read that its a quality over quantity.. HPS has the quantity and the fluros have the quality(better light).. Its just like I said above... With the amount of lumens you get off an hps, you would have to have a lot of fluros to compare... I KNOW THIS WASN'T THE THREAD(COMPARING HPS TO FLUROS), but I had to throw in my 2cents... I've never herd of anyone wanting to stop the stretch, or slow it down... Its a part of the plants growth, if you need to have a smaller plant go with an indica strain that's stout and bushy, or just veg to a lower height... But YES HAVING BOTH SPECTRUM'S IN THE FLOwER ROOM IS OPTIMAL, and should give you a better yield..

Not the best picture since I just harvested at the time, but here is a shot of my cabinet using a 250W HPS overhead(I want a 400W though), and six pairs of 32W T-8 tubes. 1/3 of those are 3000K color temp, and the rest are 5000K or 6500K. Stretch is basically a non-issue in my cabinet. From entering the cabinet, my plants on average stretch a max of 10%. The vertical tubes basically stop stretch completely for all practical purposes. It is great in a way, but it also means I have to veg longer to create plants to fill my space completely across the floor and vertically. The trade off though is that once I fill that space, it is dense with growth and stays that way.

The overhead light is off in this shot.(I need new pictures of this)

well truth ne known to have smaller plants in the end out come is all in the gentics you can cut the main shoot early in its life to and start flowering exremly early alowing the plant only to grow one foot then flower it it will grow another 18 inches or so rember that most plants once they start flowering will grow another 18 inches to 2 foot and that will help on when you want to start flowering to end at a certen heigth

is yer hps horizontal?..mine is vertical so wonder if it'd make any difference if i put the fluoros vertical or horizontal?

My HPS is horizontal, but this could work with vertical too. Just means the plants are sandwiched in light. I'm not sure how there's a downside to that. I haven't experienced one anyway.
