Hey I would like to practice germing and growing some seeds and then even taking cutting for clones. What would you recommend? Just tomatoes? Is that about the closest I will come?
I agree^^^ you can find cheep seeds and get allot of them. Once people get to know you they may send you some. Friends are a must IMO. I would not have the genetics I have without them.
To quote Allen Iverson, "Practice! Practice! We're talking about practice here. I don't care about practice."
Dive right in with bagseed. If you have read threads and bounced around the internet sites like the most diehard people here you don't really need any practice. By the time you have "reached the end of the internet" like I did you ARE AN EXPERT. Seriously. I became obsessed for grow knowledge. I knew how to do things I hadn't even done and was confident about doing it. Sure things come up but you easily solve them because you know where to go for help.
I read every grow thread, every sick plant thread, every thread on individual aspects of growing like lighting, ventilation, fertilizers and much more.
A good reader could do it very quickly. You can become an expert pretty fast on the internet in just about anything if you have the desire and are a good reader. Then get some bagseed or store bought genetics and grow baby grow.
I hear you... War and Peace... that is child's play to the page count I have tackled in the last 2 months. I did just call a buddy and grabbed some practice seeds... literally I never even thought of that (reminds me of the "school for the gifted" cartoon!) LOL. I already have a couple MR. Nice packs laying around, but they are top-shelf and exactly the kind of stuff I don't want to practice on! Maybe on this next order I will grab a pack of "cheap" seeds of his too, what would you suggest?
By the way, THANK YOU for the help. This forum always amazes me, and I have told everyone around here that is in the industry about it. If anything, there is TOO much good info here! HA!
Lets imagine that we want to grow these "practise" plants on our window or on our livingroom window. So bagseed is not an option. What plant would act the same way, with nutes, cloning, etc..?
It would be +, if we could get something to harvest, tomato, chili, basil, etc..?
nothing is going to be exactly the same, cannabis is unique.
if you want to grow food. go crazy, try as many types and variety's as you can handle. they are not illegal. all will give you experience with soil and give you free food. but nothing is going to be exactly like cannabis.
i would say that if you are going to go to the trouble to grow then just buy some cheep seeds or grow out some indica or skunk type bagseeds. practice taking cuttings off anything you see around the garden - perlegoniums would be good this time of year. look up softwood cuttings.
