Cold Temps Day and Night

I just dealt with a very similar problem. My evening temps (lights off) were dipping much lower , more like 53, so I dealt with that quickly before it became an issue. I added a Honeywell oil filled radiator type electric heater. It runs on a thermostat so I have it set to maintain 68F. Lights on it hits 78-79f , so I am right where I need to keep them.

It has been running for the last month or so, and so far no problems.

$75 at Wlmart.

funny. we're getting -20C temps here and my basement gets own to like 10-12C at night and like 12-15C day, so my veg area in one corner needs a heater to raise ambient temps and maintain it during lights off (20/4). nice heat generated by CFLs keep it just under 20C inside the dressor-box I veg in, but on top under the 4ft light it gets way cold and my clones have been revving in idle...

You say humidity is an issue? In Spring/summer my humidity was pushing 80% without a dehumidifier, but now (I guess air is dry) its like 30-35% and even evaporating water wont raise it much..
my flower room is in an enclosed room lined with poly and has concrete floors.. the temps are about 12-13C in there without anything going on.. in summer its like 15-17 which is great.. I set lights on at night to balance lower night temps with heat from lights and warmer days for lights off, tho Ive had to add a heater this last week to keep lights off temps at 16-18C (mid 60s) and the timer shuts it off before lights come on (I have JUST enough amps to handle eveything at once but it occasionally spikes etc and shuts itself off if I have it on with th elights.. dehumidifier adds a bit of heat too when on, and lowers an 80% problem down to between 40-50% easily (just needs to be emptied every day, twice if possible)
flower room temps are about 20C ambient and 25 under the lights, canopy top (about 80) which is perfect.

Im just worried about the low humidity - I know 40% is okay, though low, for flowering, but is 30% too low? I heard spider mites thrive in this range tho Ive never seen any ever and dont even know how to get them (knock on wood).. I keep everything super clean and sterilize what I can and have seen only house spiders and the occasional fly that I let in - I let the spiders live cause they'll eat anything that dont belong and generally stay off the plants - got great air movement.

is the low humidity a problem or a blessing? I am adding about half as many more as are in there already in a day or two that should raise it a bit too...

Powdery mildew has been the worst recurring problem at low temps , must keep air moveing and struggle to keep humidity below 30% and it thrives above 50% but will see no more spidermites till spring at least.

Constantly bringing back moulds and pests from work , short of an airlock it is inevitable , the real problems with Powdery mildew and some common food crop rusts only start for me when humidity is much above 30% with a dark cycle air temperature below 55 F.

You never want to find condensation on plants , PM trashed my room once in a weekend , if you see white its too late.

Low level mite infestation happens regularly in the summer but i see very few if any mites from dec - march with average temps below 55 F .

Always going to be a risk running cold and i would not endanger an essential crop or yield for the sake of the small relative expense of running a fan heater on a thermostat.

If all goes well i think they look so cute its worth a bit of management , and like the idea of a seasonal variation indoors to mirror nature in some limited way
